I hear you man. I'm still hunting for a cheapie woodgrain but I'm lovin my under a hundred bucks green ebay wheel I painted black in the meantime. It feels great and the trick was waxing the stupid thing. Once I did that you'd be hard pressed to guess it's painted by touching it. I was worried about doing this but with the good advice from the guys here you can try and tackle most anything. What's the wheel you're trying to fix look like ? Love to see it.
