The crappy years? There were some cool Mopar cars from 1975-1991 (pre-viper), so list 'em!

I saw a Chrysler with the fuel injection still intact a few years back at the Fall Fling in Van Nuys.

I like those little Champs and Colts. Its too bad there hasn't been any improvement past 50mpg in the last 30yrs. Last car that was just engine (no electrics) which realistically got over 50mpg that I know of was the Geo Metro's of the mid 90's. With insurance companies pushing govt for more safety regulations, I guess cars are just too heavy and complicated.

Even the 2022 Fiat 500 Twinair gets only 57mpg (US gallons)...and its a 2 cylinder!

And it has AC too!!
Last Friday, while returning from Hot August Nights, I got 50.3 from Reno to Rocklin, and 49.7 from Rocklin to Chico. 2021 VW Jetta, 1.4 turbo.

Light always wins.
F=m × a, you can't add more mass and get by with less force.
No free lunch in the real world.
In the government world everyone gets a free lunch if you own a electric car.

91 Spirit R/T. T3 engine and a 5 speed. Easy to get into trouble.

Those were sweet cars! Car and Driver did an article on taking one to Europe and driving it on the highways there. Was excellent!

Have never driven one, but I did drive an '89 Spirit ES Turbo with 5-speed. Wanted one!!

These factory racing cars kits were sold thru dealers and direct connection. I think only 1974-1977, but you would have to put the car together (for insurance and lawsuit reasons). Only about 100 kits were sold. These weren't legal for the street and I don't think the complete cars came with a VIN. I guess all these were crashed or junked after racing, because I've never seen one for sale.

These aren't the 30 cars that were sold as Aspens/Volare which only had the "look" of a race car but no racing mechanical parts, which I posted previously.

1988 Dodge Lancer Shelby 1 of 279 made in North America
1992 Chrysler Daytona IROC R/T 1 of 34 white cars sold in Canada. Its a Chrysler in Canada and a Dodge in USA

I bought an '84 Shelby Charger when it came out. Equipped with the 2.2 liter engine and progressive 2bbl. Great little car that handled like it was on rails. The shifter was notchy and stiff. I'm sure it could have been upgraded. The a/c compressor developed a shaft seal leak around 70k miles. Otherwise, zero issues.

There is a facebook page devoted to these. Also some info on them on the USAC stock car page on FB. One comes up for sale once in a while. They won some races against Foyt, Bobby Allison, Joe Ruttman, etc.

Here is my lowly POS mid 80's crap wagon.

Wow, I guess there's a FB group devoted to everything. Thanks for the info.

Not a car, but I live 2 miles from Lake Erie, so I like boats too.

Chrysler Marine made fun, sporty, little boats which lasted from 1965-1984. Although last boat was sold in 1979, engine mfr continued until 1984, but I think Chrysler kept making outboard engines under other competitor's names into the 1990's?). Chrysler's Tri-Hull boats were great on choppy lakes, very stable. Too bad in the mid 1970's, Chrysler started to use plastic engine and carb parts that led to people getting stranded. By 1984, Chrysler Marine was sold off to other competitors.

From '89 to '91 Chrysler made the TC, a luxury two seater convertible with a plush leather interior and an included removable hardtop About 7500 were produced over the 3 year run. Three drivetrains were used. The rarest is the 4 valve per cylinder turbocharged 2.2 liter with a 5 speed, with only about 500 made for the '89-'90 model years. The 2.2 liter turbo with a 3 speed automatic was used initially andwas replaced with a 3 liter v6 with a 4 speed automatic. They were among the most expensive domestic cars with a sticker price of $33,000 in 1989. This car was supposed to be Chryslers flagship model. The redesigned Lebaron which borrowed styling cues from the TC was scheduled to follow a year or two after the TC was introduced. Production delays resulted in the Lebaron beating the TC to market by 2 years and at less than half the price.

I was so, so close to buying one at a local car show last Summer. The seller wanted $7K, which to me, was a fair price for a 55K-mile car. People who don't know better, see these as a dolled-up LeBaron ragtop. Thing is, there is almost no interchangeability between the Chrysler by Maserati and the LeBaron cars.

I would like one of these with the 5-speed. The remain affordable, although many have seen better days.

It's a bit hard to believe that my Omni glhs is 36 years old already. All these cars are getting up there. Also they run OBD-0 computers.

Just a bit outside of the year range but a couple of years ago I nearly picked up a cheep 94 Lebaron convertible. Owners were a retired couple moving south and already had cars there. Actually not that bad in the looks department, green and gold. It needed paint but as I looked at current mileage and possible forthcoming issues I passed.
