The Dodge Hellcats are so hot, they got suspended

OK so maybe the underestimated the demand, as I see it that would be the only thing the manufacture did wrong. Like Stan said dealers are scum, all dealers, car, tire, drug, phone, they are all fast talking salesmen never taking blame for their part, pitting manufacture/supplier against consumer and just reaping the profits for having connections and no loyalty to either.
I hope when Chrysler gets this figured out that they have some penalties against the worst fake order dealers because they are doing no good for.either side

Manufacturers do indeed reward and punish dealers at the Zone Manager's Discretion through their allocation system.
For example, if you sell, let'say, all 100 of your 2014 Allocation of a hot seling model, they'll up your allocation for 2015. Inversely, if your allocation is 35 and you don't sell the cars and /or sell the remainder of your allowed allocation to another dealer, you will be cut back.

The abusers of the system of the Hellcat will likely have some Ram allocation slashed and have manual tranny Dart II's piled on them.
