When I was eleven my parents left me home alone, with no sisters even, and the keys to the '77 chev "sundial" camper van on the counter. It was in the garage and the idea was just to start it up and listen to the engine, but once that V8 was running I couldn't help but put it in gear, just a little back and forth inside the garage, no one would know. However this particular van really "jumped" when put in gear, which my parents knew, not I, and when I put it in reverse and had it jump on me, my kid legs couldn't stomp on the brakes hard enough from atop the captains chair and the van ended up lodged into the double wide steel car door. I really enjoyed awaiting my parents arrival that day. Garage door was a write-off, spare tire bracket on rear door of van was slightly bent. Punishment was not as bad as I was expecting due to my parents knowing of the "jump" issue and procrastinating on having it fixed.
Years later learnt to drive the family van, '78 gmc passenger/window van.
First car registered in my name, 1969 Miller meteor Cadillac Hearse.
