The Future Is Now

And favored parking positions also help.
These were St the far end of the parking lot, I took a little joy in knowing that. But it's probably closer for the people who use them, doctor's at the nearby hospital.

I was picking up the camper on Sunday and I stopped at a gas station/truck stop for a drink before I hit the highway. As I was leaving, I saw this,

Obviously no one was using them, but the girl outside said they get used a lot, and they have plenty of them.

As I learned from a Google search, buyers of the Model S, Model X, and performance Model 3 as of Sept 18, 2018 were eligible for free lifetime charging at Tesla Supercharging stations (which these are called), not a bad deal. Must enter a code on the screen inside the car to make it work, as I saw no button or controls on the outside of the unit. This was about forty-five miles west of where I live, and it's got me curious what else is out there, and how big a network of charging stations is around me. Curiosity is getting the best of me.

Laura said I'll be the first to own one, since I complain about them so much! I don't think that will happen any time soon.

Actually, when I read this comment by Jay Leno on the future of electric cars, I found that everything he was saying is exactly where I am regarding the future of electrics and I personally think Elon Musk has accomplished some great achievements. I know others complain about his making a profit, but I like that he has this country in the forefront of designing appealing EVs that a lot of people aspire to own. And straight out of the box he built an EV that puts just about every other vehicle ever made on the trailer. And a lot of the technology in his cars such as the model S and model 3 continue to surprise the pundits. As Leno says, long distance driving still requires a conventional car and I might add that cold climates mute the appeal of EVs too since driving range in cold weather still isn't good enough. And recycling/disposal of batteries still isn't a done deal, but as with any new technology, improvements will still be coming for some time, just like with gasoline vehicles over the last 100 years or so........

Jay Leno loves his Tesla: 'There's almost no reason to have a gas car'

And that's exactly why I don't like them, they take away the reason for our old relics to exist. An ever expanding grid of charging stations makes them more practical every day. I'm not paranoid my cars will be obsolete tomorrow, it's just depressing to see the end of the line, so to speak. It is what it is and I'm not going to change anything, I just want to drive my cars until they burn my corpse, screw any protracted hospital visit. Is that too much to ask?
