Tilt-Tele Column Install

I'm new to CNY (I'm from Rochester), are there any cruisenites you would recommend in the Syracuse area Big_John?

I have a couple favorites. Cars and coffee at the Wegmans in Liverpool on Rt57 early Saturday morning is fun. It's very laid back and you'll see a variety of cars. http://cnycarsncoffee.yolasite.com/

There is a big one Tuesday night in Clay at the Nice and Easy store on Rt 31 and Thompson Rd. http://mapleroadboyz.com/

There was a cruise night in Fulton on Saturday nights, but it's been off and on for a while. Sweet Inspirations on Rt 3 used to be huge, but the place has changed owners a couple times.

I've also heard the one at the B'ville dinner on Thursday night is good, but I've never been there.

Here's a list: http://www.cnycca.org/CruiseNight/CruiseNights13.htm

It will be a couple weeks until I'm at either place. I have a brown 70 300 vert.

Thanks, Big_John.

Ill try to make it to some of those. I don't have the car up in Fulton yet. The Apt. building where I live has a sketchy parking lot and the police are here 3Xs a week, so I don't dare bring it up until I move.

Finally got the column in. It wasn't too bad, except I didn't realize I had to take the entire lower dash out to do the job. That was a pain because then you have to remove the "floor air" duct, which is where I mounted my oil pressure gauge. The wheel has some bad cracks, Ill put a wrap on it for now and repair the wheel over the winter. I like the leather wrapped ones I have seen on this forum and on other NYB's.
The horn also does not work, ran out of time to diagnose it. One part I do need is part # 3467 432, its the plastic retainer under the steering wheel, DSC01485.jpgDSC01486.jpgDSC01487.jpgDSC01488.jpg that is over the steering shaft and keeps the horn coil spring on the contacts and insulated from the shaft. When I pulled the wheel to change the ignition switch this piece just disintegrated. I tried super glue (very wishful thinking) but the part just exploded when I put it back in. Any one got a source for one????

Did you re-attach the column grounding strap? Without it the horn will not work because the column is not grounded (due to the nylon bushings). The ground strap bypasses the nylon bushings to provide the ground.

While it ain't rocket science, pulling the column, it's still a huge pain in the *** job.
Hat's off to ya for tackling it.

Thanks, Mr C. I did not attach a ground, only the wiring that was on the column. Where does the ground usually attach? I didn't have any extra wires, so maybe it was removed or broken off before I got it.
