That's a plastic slider. No doubt in my mind. As Stan says, they do need grease.As in the photo above the owner has told me his are steel, I put some hard plastic in there but the steel hinge was grinding it to death. Has anybody got some advice in aligning the trunk as I am having a bad time trying to get it right, do they use shims at all

I see nothing wrong with your plastic sliders. They are aligned properly.
But they need grease on them.
Strange, the ones I was looking at today were round, and had a lip on either side of the hinge. I'll take some pictures in the morning.They are square
