Well a little WTF today when I see a small leak coming from the trans cooler line under the car. Soooo,.i look a little closer and find heater hoses being used for trans cooler hoses. 5/8th heater hoses??? Don't ask! Why they did that, I have no idea. Anyway the hoses are what feels like real soft rubber now. Do you guys know besides Hayden hoses, any other good trans hoses I could use. I have to redo the entire system and want to do it right this time. I still don't understand why they did it that way, then again I've been redoing things on the car since I got it that were wrong.

Most local Napa stores offer an all lubricant type of hose. That is what is on my truck because of the same thing. That is some pretty tough stuff too let me tell you.

Thanks man, I'll check into Napa tomorrow or we have Conway auto here too. I still cant get over using heater hoses, but it's ok,..I'll do it right this time. I was getting the car ready for a track trip at the end of the week to see what she'll pull. I have a good idea, but wanna see the slip! I'm glad I saw the leak before taking it though.

They make hose just for trans coolers, you can also use fuel injection hose not regular fuel hose. It has to take pressure

Almost 50 years ago, my mentor should have ripped me a new azzhole if he saw me making a tranny cooler line repair with any kind of hose.
He's still watching me.

Where the hell did that tranny cooler come from. A Winnebago?

It's big cooler and if I remember, the PO said it was a Perma-Cool HD Trans cooler. Pretty expensive cooler. I'll be Keeping it, but getting the correct lines for it. I'm lucky I saw the leak and not at the track with it. It would've pissed a lot of people off if that line blew going down the 1320..!! Could have lost control of the car!!!!

Lmao Stan..! Called around for the correct hose and dam it's expensive ****!! $3.99 a foot. Gotta be done though!

That is right about what I paid for the stuff on my truck. It is high priced and that crap is stiff. Hope you don't have to make a tight bend anywhere!I lied to you the other day. I think I actually got my stuff from O'Reily's.

No problem man. I figured it'd be pricey. I'll need 2 @ 6 foot and some fitting I plan on using. Going with these. I like these compression fittings. Ive used them in the past with good results.

Is it going through the rad at all. I have always been under the notion that it will run too cool spring and fall but I guess with big enough converter its not going too run too cool.

No just to the cooler and it has a 9" 3500 Stall in it.

Took the rubber heater hoses off today and they are supposed to be 1/2 hose,..but they expanded so much they are measuring more than 3/4 now.
DONT USE HEATER HOSE FOR TRANS LINES!!!!!

Picked up the Hayden trans hose today and the right fittings for the install tomorrow. Also took out the cooler and cleaned it up along with flushing the outside of the rad. Big difference between real trans hose and heater hose....LOL

Fixed....

I've had several 80's Mopars that had factory hose connections to the radiator. Just a short 6" section at the end of the steel tube, most likely to eliminate cracking from vibration.
