These #’s taken from above pan rail on left (drivers side). I need assistance in identifying so I can plan for rebuild. I think it’s original in my 66 Sport Fury but not %100.

Thank you in advance for your help.

I think that trans, (H2538334 is the part number) might have a 19 spline input shaft rather than the 24 spline. I've read it both ways about '66 trans having 19 or 24... Either way, with it being questionable, the only good way is to count splines on the input.

2948977 is the date code. Are you sure that 8 isn't really a 5? 294th day of 1968 is the date code.

Yes they are 19 spline on 1966 model year.

The numbers after the trans part number are not a 10,000 day calendar date until 1968.

Everything I've read on that says the 10,000 day calendar started on July 29, 1961. I think that would be for 1962 models.

One of the better references I found was this page from the 727 Handbook.

I’m talking about when they started stamping the 10,000 day calendar dates on the trans cases.

I'm not familiar with that, but it makes sense. I do know they changed the style of how they stamped (or cast) the date codes over the years. Some got a "wheel" and some got a "bar" and some were stamped.

I thought it was more about supplier or what the component was.

I'm not into date codes that much, so I'll take your word on that... I'm going to try to read up on it though.
