I know some folks here will try to talk me out of this but I did the math. I learned it would be cheaper to paint my current 1961 fury 1 color in stead of 2. The color I chose is black
I am doing this a tribute to the black '61 fury I lost in a fire back in 2014. I hope to find a bumper guard for the front bumper .
It will be a while for my car is done there is more to do on the car.

Go for it.....it'll look nice.

Make it yours. It's not like you want to paint it Limelight or Plum Crazy. There's nothing like an Exner-era car with all that stainless and chrome, in a deep, glossy black.

IMO, there's nothing wrong with a single color paint job. That was the era, late fifties and early sixties, of two tone paint, but there were a lot of cars built during that era, by all of the "Big Three", that came out of the factory with single color paint.

Besides, the black Fury in the pic looks sharp.

:)

It will be a while before its done. It sure would be nice if rear quarters were made for '61 plymouths but I learned the wheel arch on the '60 and '61 plymouth are identical

This was Steph's black 61 Fury, to which she is paying tribute.

I understand your having a hard time letting go of it Steph, especially the tragic way it was lost. As nice as the "new" 61 looks in red & white I think the black will give you some closure. Go for it girl......!

Once you go black you can't go back, My Ex will tell you that one....

Oh it hurts , and I still wish the fire never happened. My dad told me its your car you can have it painted any color you want. I chose black. I also hope someday to have our '61s parked next to each other at a car show. It will not matter to me who gets 1st place but both cars will get attention, I see the photos were from the TNValley mopar show I got 1st place that day. The year before that (2012 I got 1st I beat a '60 Chrysler that is the only forward look I competed against .
I also noticed my wiring harness missing from the electronic ignition. I had to get a new wiring harness , I was running on points at the time but the current 1 will be converted to electronic ignition.
I forgot to mention the black car in the photo was also very special to me

I recently learned my dad has some black paint left from the other '61 so that is a start on paint. I am not sure how much but it will save me some funds on the paint

Black will look nice. I heard you DO have to ensure the body work is fantastic to make it look nice though. Looking forward to seeing it painted.

I will tell you this after the fire I got invited to enter my black '61 in a big car show in Kentucky but I had to decline the invitation. My dad talked to the person in charge and he told him what happened.
It is also really sad a lot of these forward looks ended up in the grave yard. 1 of these years I plan to drive my '61 to Carlisle and hope to have mine parked next to another '61 fury .
