I have a 1965 Windsor ( Newport in the US ) . I got a set of HP C-body BB exhaust Manifolds. I would like to swap out the log manifolds for the HP Manifold's on my 361.

Does anyone see a problem with the fit? I know the 1965 is a one year only for how everything is mounted under the hood ( power steering, drivers side engine mount )

Also, do I need different fasteners to use the HP manifolds or can I just swap over the manifold and use the Log manifold fasteners ( nuts and factory log studs)

Do you see much of a performance difference between the two types of manifolds?

Do your HP manifolds use the barrel bolts that thead onto a stud in the head?

My logs don't have those so I guess that is what I need. Any idea on where to get the barrel bolts? I noticed shafts in the manifolds and wondering if I would need something like that.

A little background on my engine.
Stock piston 1965 361, reringed.
383 Magnum Camshaft
M-1 Dual Plane intake
600 Holley vacuum secondary
stock points distributor with an early 1980's Mallory control box firing the coil ( turned the points into a switch)
rebuilt 452 heads.
log manifolds with muffler shop dual exhaust.
2.76 gear

At the track it will go flat at 4900 rpm. Seems to run out of steam. My car is a cruiser but i go to the track every once and a while for Mopar day and run. Best run 16.30 @ 89mph

Not sure if the HP will gain me much in power but they look so much nicer.

They are available on ebay ... type in magnum exhaust attaching hardware or something like that

If the magnums fit on your engine in the engine bay with everything installed and don't dump right into something a good exhaust guy should be able to hook them up and route appropriately.

We still don't know if his HP manifolds need them, though.
I'm almost sure they do but let's check first, shall we?

He asked so I answered.

He needs them if he's going to use the Magnum manifolds.

Windsor post pics of your manifolds and part numbers for the magnums. There's diff attaching hardware for the various magnum manifolds.

Yep. Barrel bolts....
Careful. There are short ones and longs ones. All the "sets" advertised" are for A/B/E body manifold combinations. I couldn't find anybody that sold the correct combination of long and short barrel bolts as a "set" for my '76 440.

What would you suggest? It looks like I need 2 long and 1 short .. at least on this side. I will have to dig the other side.

I was thinking about having the mating surfaces machined flat just to clean them up and ensure they are flat so I don't keep blowing out gaskets like I do on the log intakes. It should only take a couple quick passes with a fly cutter I would think.

My brain always tells me that's risky.
Sorry. It's the way I was brought up.
Mate two surfaces together where gas or fluid flow through it.... Gasket.

This drives me nuts, years ago you could buy onsie twosie now everything is in sets and we're stuck buying two sets just to get what is needed.

We need to find the guy in between the bulk importer and the retailer. I don't believe for a minute they are packaged at the manufacturer.
