Vintage NASCAR

Richard Petty is all over the Dodge Daytona of Bobby Issacs. That's road racer Sam Posey in the #6 Dodge Charger 500. A Cotton Owens car. Cotton had a wing car so not sure why Sam is in the 500. Maybe he didn't want to risk it on the road course

Bobby Allison leads Richard Petty & Bobby Issacs at the Riverside road course. This is racing here folks. 3 of the best driving Hemi wing cars

Ramo Stott #7 & Dick Brooks #32. 1970 Daytona 500 Ramo won the ARCA race the week before on Saturday in the #7 making him the first driver to win in a Superbird. Ramo then finished 7th in the 500. He left Daytona with quite a bit of cash in his pocket

The 70 Superbee appears to be Paul Feldner. In 1977 Feldner won the championship in a Charger (that I think was built by the Pettys) against a TON of Kit-cars and Cameros. The Charger was reskinned as a Magnum and then the owner retired it when USAC stockcar racing dried up- so it survived better than most. It was raced a lot as the "Oly" Charger in Vintage events, but might be back in it's 1977 "Tru-cut" look.

Martinsville, Virginia's Old Dominion 500 1970. Check out the rag Richard has over his face. That's Lee Roy Yarborough behind him. Lee Roy was tough. He had no problem putting the bumper to you & moving you out of the way if his car was fast. Lee Roy was seriously injured a few years later. Serious head injury from a crash. He eventually died from it about 10 years later IIRC as his condition deteriorated.

The # 6 is the Cotton Owens Dodge. Not sure who is driving as Cotton had several drivers during this time. Richard Petty in the 43. Gotta wonder if Richard helped the 6 spin out
