What a Rush

Looks like the new parts are Feline approved.

This is the engine out of Rush? Nothing left for a overbore?
This is the engine from Rush. We missed a large gouge in a cylinder and had already bought the 30 over stroker kit. Luckily, we got this new engine for a very fair price. I have also been highly considering ditching the 383 in the Moose and dropping a stock stroke 440 (Rush's engine) in.

Oddly enough, and somewhat against my suggestion, Dylan had purchased the +0.030" stroker kit before we had a good look at the existing block. It was already cut +0.030".
Dylan really wanted to be able to do this without getting a machine shop involved. So, we sort of jumped the gun. We did have a friend with a virgin block, so, buying the kit at +0.030" wasn't entirely knee-jerk. After all, it's a dad's job to allow a young man to learn a bit on their own. Patience can be a hard lesson.

Anyway, this block came up on CL and we checked it out. Wound up taking it home. So, now, our buddy still has his virgin block, we have a seasoned core to cut over +0.030", and, Dylan can get a professional machinist's guidance in building this beast. It's a win-win.

I thought this was a cool photo.

This block also has the thicker main saddle supports. Very nice.

Fortunately, that's just a lithium grease, oil, and dirt drag pattern left from when I was stuttering the crank around by hand. It wiped right off. We did find what seemed to be a previously broken ring. The broken ring may have happened when we poked the pistons out past a barely existent (<.002"?) ridge, but, the bores look great. In fact, the whole block looks surprisingly good. Of course, Murphy may have a trick up his sleeve yet.

The next step is to gently grind away any really rogue casting flash to mitigate potential stress risers. The drain openings in the valley are particularly rough. They will be smoothed and slightly radiused.

More parts!

I see this one box has something that doesn't go with a big block Chrysler.

That pussy part is very likely for a Ford. I would have said "Rice Burner" but the part in the box is definitely a domestic part..

Update!
The 440 is finally in a machine shop and should be finished shortly. I spent the day at City Machine (NOT City Motors- do not go there) with Cruz and Damon. They are awesome guys and it was a pleasure to meet them.
Before taking the block there I did a little work on it by grinding off any casting flash or sharp edges.

I can post engine specs later, but for now I'm driving the Challenger to Galveston.
Some flaws on the Trick Flow heads:

We picked this up for my Uncle's birthday. It may go in a swivel frame Power Wagon.
