What are you working on today??

I have been chasing a couple of fault codes on my 2015 Ford Fiesta and I believe that I have discovered the problem:

Mice!

This harness is for the downstream oxygen sensor, tucked behind a metal bracket on the back of the engine. I have replaced both oxygen sensors, cam positioning sensors and both variable valve timing solenoids. The car has 104k on the clock and ran like a top before getting the codes.

I will splice in a short extension for the 4 wires.

Fault codes for exhaust cam timing (P0365, P0369) continued. I did some research and the only thing that I believe it could be is that the timing belt was stretched enough to cause the faults to be flagged.
I had replaced both variable timing solenoids, cm and crankshaft position sensors, with no joy.
I had to drain the transaxle fluid (manual transmission) and I installed a drain plug as none existed. I had to pull the passenger side axle to get to the bolt where the TDC pin is to be installed.

I dove into replacing the timing belt and after struggling with getting the crankshaft and cams aligned (the harmonic balancer/crankshaft gear are pressure held in place - no keyway), I got the engine fired and no fault codes! I didn’t run it long, as I don’t have the alternator mounted, cover installed, passenger side driveshaft, and other sundry items installed, but it started and ran well.
I’ll button it up on Monday.

Gutsy move doing the job without timing belt tools. 1.6 engine?

Did a hitch for a friend on a 15 CTS today, hot and humid out and I think I lost a couple pounds in sweat.

I did purchase the machined tool that locks the intake and exhaust cams at TDC and the pin that identifies TDC on the crankshaft.
Yes, non-turbo 1.6 liter engine.
It had 104k+ on the clock when I did the job.

Not working on much. Just dreaming.

At $8k I will keep dreaming. Looks like fun though.

So, starting on the interior. Have the covers from legendary, the hardware for the head rests, new seat backs and hinge covers. No one makes seat foam as far as I know. Will have to see what it needs for foam, possible fix or repair? Anyone use another style / make of seat foam that could be modified and used if needed? Head rests are made and available from a few sources, any idea on best source for those? Thanks

I bought these to fit my 68 buckets. But my covers are a different style so I had to do a bunch of modifications to the foam. Still doing it actually. Guess I should have expected this with anything that is described for 3 body styles. But your style seats look like a better match to the foam. If it wasn't for the price I would recommend this knowing you have to change it. After working with the foam and learning how it cuts, sands and glues if I did it over again I might be tempted to make the foam insert completely from scratch. Online videos will show people gluing blocks of foam together and then sanding. Kinda like wood. Very soft wood. I can tell you this molded foam is a lot denser than the original and almost any 50lb density foam I could find at upholstery places. I added softer foam on top just so the seat had some give. When you take the originals apart try not to rip the original foam too much in case you want to use some. I did not yet but might. Plus you will want to compare the original to the whatever you replace it with. Perhaps deserves a separate thread if you begin this process.

I am working on the Transmission seals for TB Imperial.
Dirty rusty pan cleaned up after some parts washer time and then a soak in the Phosphoric acid. 2 hrs needed for a good rust removal.
I don't think the pan has been off before, no over torqued bolt damage, no scrapes, very original looking.

View attachment 267527 Rainy day here in the hood, so Im in the garage getting a new floor shifter installed. What have the rest of you got going on??
Nice to see what believed ‘68, AND seems the ‘65 C-Body! As not first attempt … AM yet seeking Replacement Opt/S for ‘65 Chry NY C-Body WAGON … FUEL Tank … the fair rare sized/ shaped thing. Any similarities to other MOPAR within Decade/s? Need something fair good shape to Seal Inside, Paint Out, and install in sane Space, unless Alternative locations for Tank and even possibly Spare Tank might be suggested. As yet having NOT confirmed that ‘65 identical to the following ‘66 Wagon?!? Again, especially good to see the ‘65-‘66 and ‘67-‘68s! David

New selector shaft, throttle shaft, dip stick tube and pan seals installed on TB Imperial. I am the first to open TB's pan, looked good inside.

I'll let the gasket set up over night with a light coat of sealant, then torque in the AM.

You're a brave soul for trusting those ramps, and I work on dirt!

Lots of Safety stands under TB Imperial. The ramps get me half way up then the jack takes it the rest of the way. Before I work on any machine powered dead or alive machine or tool, I think about the early scenes in Stephen Kings Maximum Overdrive or Christine.
I love them all, but I don't trust them that much. Lots of kind words spoken to the car when I reach into dangerous spots or lay underneath. They all know my empathy for the machines and have let me continue with their care.

Been wanting one for a couple years now and been waiting patiently for the local parts house to have sand blasting cabinets on sale, well they just went on sale for over 40% off so I picked up a large standing unit, just spent about 6 hours assembling the darn thing, so many pieces and about 150 small screws and bolts.

So, looking for pics on the hood pin latches, cannot find any good pics. Anyone have a pic of how these fit? I assume the one goes as I have it in the pic the other not so sure? Thanks
