I let a mechanic mess with my 1972 Newport Custom. After he got done with the dash, the Low fuel warning light did not work anymore. This light was handy, as I knew I always had about 50 miles left after the light came on.

I have the original manuals with schematics, but cannot figure out just what makes this light come on. The bulb itself is not burned out. Anyone have any idea?

Anyone been successful in calibrating the fuel needle to be accurate with the tank sender? Neither my 1965 Fury nor my 1972 Newport are very accurate. When the needle dips just below 1/4, gas is about out!

Perhaps this helps:

The dark blue wire goes to the one terminal of the fuel gauge. The other terminal of the gauge is connected to the sending unit in the tank.

Not sure about your needle inaccuracy problem. Usually, over time, the float gets holes and doesn't float as good anymore, showing less fuel than actually in the tank. Perhaps your dash 5V converter is faulty producing a higher voltage, leading to too high a reading.
