What did you do to your C-body today....

Got my personalized collector plates for the 1971 Monaco wagon today, no more registration fees ever!!! Love that I can do this in my fine state. The plate will make no sense to anyone but Wyatt and myself, and a YouTuber. Hence forth, she shall be known as UNBREADED!!!

I've got a plate in mind if I ever do find myself a formal Monaco.

thanks to @FK3 Sport Fury , this 71 Formal roof PH29 Sport Fury arrived today, its going to be a parts donor.
its not worth saving, its rusty with a baked interior but if it was a real triple black car i'd be more tempted.....
it was born Y8 gold metallic with a gold vinyl interior and white vinyl top.
interior has been dyed black, vinyl top replaced and the roof is bubbling.
it did drive on and off the trailer and the rebuilt 360 seems to run strongly.

my 72 Monaco is missing most of it's underhood a/c so it will come in handy

I received my correct washer reservoir recently; and today, it's going in its new home in the Imperial. Filling up that void of the old one!

Replaced the Wiper bushing on Ginger.. I was pleasantly surprised at how easy and fast it was to swap them out.. bout an hour soup to nuts. They weee crispy and damn near fell out of the wiper linkage.

FYI.. went to the Dealer to order OE, I was FLOORED when the pats guys said they were $10 a piece…. AND only came in a bag of (10). No Thank you sir! Ordered Dormans, we’ll see how they hold up, i hopeful since it’ll be a rarity that they get used. But if I Need them they’ll be ready..

Had a wheel alignment done on the 71 NYer. While they were at it also had the torsion bars adjusted.

Replaced right rear wheel bearing and race on the 64 New Yorker. It failed because of moisture siting for many years that got past the outer bearing seal and caused corrosion at the bottom of the race resulting in a growl from the bearing.
I suspect the other side is also due. But apparently somebody wanted that drum off for brake service and didn't have a drum/hub remover. It looks like a hammer was used in some fashion to get the drum/hub of. I got the drum /hub off with my proper drum/hub remover, but probably can't get the axle shaft out with the race bearing and seal because the threads on that side are in such bad shape now from the hammer damage. I did clean/flush out the bearing and then got ample amounts of grease in it with a syringe. Then I just put it back together and welded the axle nut on for now.
It now needs another axle shaft. But another rear from a later model with a 3.23 or 3.55 gear will show up first.

Taking the 69 Imperial to the first local cruise night this year at Culvers.

They chose the Imperial Best of Show.
Caught a train driving back to the shop, so I hopped out and snapped a pic.

Well, it's not what i did to, more like what i did for my C body. When i bought my car i didn't think about storage. I just threw the chips in the air so to speak. Jan 22 I purchased 20 railroad ties. March i had nearly 23 tons of crusher run delivered. I spread it by hand a friend of mine came and helped. Then the search was on for a carport. It's no surprise that they more than doubled or tripled in price since Mar 2020. Plus if you order one to have it built and installed, it's at least a six month wait. Lowe's had this 20x20 on sale at Christmas for 3100 bucks. It took me 5 days to get it together with the help of the same friend, but it's doing its job nicely. Eventually it's going to get sides and sliding barn doors in the front but I'm done building for now!

Bought some hinge hold open bushings and springs from @danno54. Was able to install it with the door on. It’s tight but was able to get it done, even with my ham hands.

First, I washed the thick 24-year-old layer of and dust off the 72 New Yorker that I towed home from Atlanta this weekend. It turns out the paint is green or gold, or both. Then blew out as much of the dust from under the hood and out of the interior as I could.
Next was to order fuel tank, sender, straps, mat, j-bolts, carb kit, pump and tires.
Last was to start getting excited about a new daily driver that's going to be a rich Bronze with no vinyl top.

Took the NYer to the CMC car show in Downers Grove today.
Got 2nd place in C body class. The 300 Hurst got 1st place. (same car I was parked next to at MCACN last November).

Put flyers for the C Body Show in a bunch of cars today.

After having sat for way way too many months I finally was able to pull my Imp out in the sunlight! It's damn filthy and it seems that the power steering pump ate itself over those months but man it started right up. Gotta love electronic fuel pumps. Onwards and upwards.

I think I’ve gone a Dunnit this time. I’m in over my head. I had a replacement Dash ready to go in, NOT being truthful with myself with what REALLY what was involved in swapping it out. Now I’m knee-deep in kimchee.. but I’m gonna soldier on and hope to have it done by Carlisle. I pulled the bottom knee panel from the dash and sent it out for Powder coating, I’ll get that back next Friday. I’m gonna try to clean up all the dusty dirt that’s accumulate over 47 years and make it a little more presentable before installing the rest of the new dash. wish me luck

It's going to get worse before it gets better John but it'll look incredible once done. Hang in there, I know your pain.
