What did you do to your C-body today....

Removed the 4-hole 1/4" phenolic carb spacer from between the Holley Sniper and Edelbrock Performer on the 440 in my 300 and replaced it with a 1/4" open spacer. The 4-hole wasn't bad, but the open spacer really improved idle quality, throttle response and overall driveability.

I don't have hood clearance to try anything thicker, but with the open spacer it's like I have a poor man's Edelbrock Performer Air Gap that I can revert to a standard dual plane intake any time I want.

Here are the spacers I've tried:

I did the same thing Fel-Pro 60123 1/4" open gasket with an Edelbrock 800 cfm AVS 2 carb. 440 in my 1970 Fury Convertible runs great.
Same Hood Clearance Problem. Had to use factory intake to get low enough to run my dual snorkel
BTW, Hello from a fellow Virginian. Hope I get to see your car some time!

greased front suspension and changed out the old oil yesterday with 5 qts of rotella 10w30. only 400 mile on it since 2006. on the to do list why aren't the rear brakes working like they should and the hesitation when starting out for a stop. other than that it drove fine yesterday.

Chestnut in the shop queue getting new tires on stock rims (in trunk... and Thanks to Murray Park), alignment, new dual exhaust w/Porters, just got full undercoating after some metal frame work and some minor sheet metalwork in rear fender skirt area. Then fender skirts back on and some paint before Autumn is over. Would like to drive her up until first snowfall. Last two years we haven't had substantial snow until January.

Thanks Josh, Momma was very happy to see it gone. Four of my neighbors stopped by and asked me where it went.

I went to a car dealership today and looked at a 1969 Chrysler 300 conv. here in Sweden :)

Can anyone help me decode the tag? Is it possible to see what color the cab fabric was originally?

@69CoronetRT may have some insight, but I think that convertible top color is missing off the plate. I think there should be "V3W" or "V3X" (white or black).

But... Imagine that. someone putting a tan color top on a bronze 300!

This one's mine.

The V3* convertible top is not coded on a 69 Jefferson tag. It is coded on a 1970.

Hello everyone, after many months, I have an update on my 69 Imperial (YouTube link below). I have finally been able to clean and polish the whole car on the outside. The paint was oxidized and I did everything but the hood by hand. I used a da polisher on the hood though.

Did an oil change on the Polara, hadn’t done one in the time I have had the car. I have maybe 700 miles on the car, 540 of that was the drive from Phoenix when I got the car. Wednesday I head out on a 1000 mile trip (one way).

I had to buy a pan, jerry-rig some ramps as all my stuff is in storage and my brother didn’t have what I needed.

Well, my brother has taken on the task of body work and paint, maybe the wrong time of the year for a do-it-yourself but we can wait till spring to finish. been at it for couple of weeks part-time. long way to go. the black is the prior seal coat which we are using as the base for flat

I had my 2 stripped lug nut studs welded tight, replaced all bearings and races on front drums. Took for a test run and the grinding noise I had from the front is gone. I am thinking of putting my 300 up for sale though, running out of energy and cash to finish restoring it. Wife and I are in our traveling stage of life, lossing interest in working the 300.

Took the 300 convertible over to a friend's shop yesterday for its annual NY State inspection. He usually has some interesting cars that he's working on. There was a one owner '72 340 4 speed Challenger that the original owner brought by. Hasn't been driven since 1986. There's some typical rust on the bottoms of the quarters and fenders, but otherwise, it looks OK. He hasn't had it up on the lift yet, so no report on the underside. Blue Streak is the color (Basin Street Blue if it was a Plymouth) and the typical for the time, Ansen Sprint wheels.

'33 Chevy coupe beside it that was pretty nice and an 80's Imperial in the background that looked OK, but a little rough.

Took the Monaco yesterday to a car show held at a local high school only a few blocks from me. Didn't know it was happening until a few hours before. One guy a couple blocks from the school owns 2 or 3 of those hot rods, keeps them in his ordinary 2-car garage (with dual lifts). Parked behind me - a white Trans Am, orange '70 GTO, 70 or 71 Mach 1, 67 red Fairlane conv. Lots of older Mustangs. I had the only pre-2000 Mopar as far as I could see.......

@Turbo301 this coming thursday (in 2 days) is the last day for Plunkett's (Country Cruzin) this year. I've never been there, so I'll try it out. Can't be too far from you? Next tuesday is last day this year for Tail light Tuesday at Dorchester fairground, something else I've never been to but I think I'll go.

Plunkett actually showed up at this high-school show, with a replica boat tail Auborn:

Does NY require antiques to be inspected?

Yep. It's just a safety inspection though. For cars under 25 years old, they plug into the OBDII port and check if the emissions systems are operating properly too.

It's crazy though. It's all run through a state computer system that only licensed shops have and they can only charge $10 for a lot of work, so the shops that have them sometimes use them as a money generator for other repairs. This is why it's important to go to a shop that you trust. I always tip $20 too...

Wow. In VA you pay one fee for tags for life and sign that you're guaranteeing the car is highway safe.

Having seen what cars some people consider "safe", I really don't have a big problem with it.

Registrations are every two years for cars. Antique cars can get special plates that are a little cheaper, but you are very restricted with what you can do with your cars, so I don't even consider them.

In texas at the beginning if the year they did away with state inspections on personal vehicles but not commercial vehicles, however the law is keeping a lot closer eye on vehicles looking bad tires and lights out, a reason to pull over and really go over the vehicle then. They still check emissions on newer cars but no safety inspections.
