What do you do when....

...you cant get the pipeplug out of the 8 3/4 because it is inthere so tight almost like its welded together? I put a wrench on it, didnt budge, sprayed it with wd40, have it some slight whacks with hammer, put wrench back on. Nothing. Whacking the wrench with a hammer doesn't make it move either!? WTF?

Heat is your friend and WD-40 isn't very good. PB Blaster (my weapon of choice), Kroil, or Liquid Wrench. 50/50 mix of acetone and ATF has its true believers too.

A square socket with breaker bar may also help. You won't break it.

Make sure you are heating the unit, not the plug. The idea is to expand the female* threads, not the fastener.

I never used Kroil until my current job. That stuff allows me to remove exhaust components with thousnds of heat cycles, which would otherwise just remove the threads. Make sure the exposed threads are clean enough to allow the oil to creep along them.

*apologies if your threads do not idenitfy with a gender.

Thank you all. That seems to be a way more difficult task than anticipated. I have PB blaster, ill bombard it with that. Problem is that i dont have the socket and work on jackstands... Sigh. Why does everything need to be so difficult? I had hoped i could just loosey goosey unscrew that...

With some of the smart asses, (myself included), it is a good idea, not to eat, or drink while reading the threads on this forum.

A quality 12 pt. socket will work. Preferably an impact 12 pt.

Impact gun. Shock often works better than constant pressure.

Double square pipe plug socket. Snapon has them 3/8's drive x 5/8 square F320
Of course I don't know what size your plug is.

So i finally got it out and actually had some gearoil come out too. looked almost clean so i guess that must have been not too old!? Anyways, didn't need to fill it up...
