I know Carlisle is coming up in about 2 or 3 months. I figured i'd create a tread to get everyone who goes "hyped and excited" in a way. If you've been to Carlisle, I'd like to know how long you've been going for, and what you like/dislike about it? In my opinion, I really like seeing the cars I haven't seen before and hanging out with friends. I dislike the heat, and the burnout contest. It doesn't matter, it's a good time no matter how you look at it. I'd like to hear from you, post comments, opinions etc.

I've been going to the Chrysler event since 1992. I've missed one early year.
Likes ?...nothing special to point out , swap size, all cars are in class, showers, bathrooms are clean and lots of them.
Largest Chrysler show on the planet.

Don't likes.? All the new cars there while the old ones stay home.
The fact that it is only four days long.

...... It doesn't matter, it's a good time no matter how you look at it.......
That could very well be a quote from one of my posts in the past. I've been attending about every 3 years since 92.
The sun, the heat, the rain, heck one year a wind storm rode through, it's all part of the experience.

About 8 to 10 of us have been going every year since '08. We all enjoy the show field and swap meet, having found some things we needed or just wanted. The best part is the fun we have together. We always laugh a lot and eat good. Our sons are with us too which makes it that much more special. Usually in the middle of January, when it is about 10 degrees here, one of us will mention " 6 months till Carlisle!" We love it.

I'm surprised Dave doesn't have a mist'er or 2 for us in front of his cars to cool down on the C body line. LOL!

:poke:

Still a bucket list item for me...even so, for me I know a dislike would be the judging...I don't care for judging at car shows.

I'd be there if not for a family wedding this year...I couldn't believe they chose to hold it right in the middle of Carlisle weekend.

Next year! Here's hoping.

I dislike crowds and large events

Driving my old car across the scenery of Pa.. It's the only enjoyment I get out of this state, the roads get really nice the closer you get to the capital, go figure. The swap is excellent. The couple of times I have brought a newer car it has not been as enjoyable. Been coming every year since 2005.

I vend there and always love all the people I meet. Hell met a bunch from FABO, FBBO and FCBO. Only regret is I am married to my spot for five years straight!

It's peer judging... so as far as being judged is concerned, it's as good as it gets IMO. You don't have to lay out the card, so being judged is completely optional...

Never lasts long enough... but if it did, I'd be fighting for more vacation time.

Meeting and visiting the FCBO crowd has been the highlight for me, coming up to my 4th visit, my biggest disappointment has been not going sooner.

I've only missed one year since '93. Where else can you meet and make so many friends with common interests?

It's clean, on grass, lot's of food and drink vendors and for the most part, well organized.

My only dislike is that it is during one of the hottest weekends of the summer.

I have to agree that it is always the hottest weekend of the summer!

It's been a nice break from FL, but is hot... I get why you guys complain, but you're living in the wrong climate if you shovel snow IMO.

You missed all the fun at mine last year stop by earlier for a adult beverage!

I am glad that I did Carlisle but I may or may not go again..
TOO DAMN HOT!
At Carlisle, the Phord and Chebbie only events get the better dates for cooler weather.

Despite all the preparations and precautions,I cannot enjoy myself in 100+ heat with 100+ humidity.
Last year was fun but Maggie and Dexter really suffered at my expense..
I cannot put them through that again.
Maggie is a trooper and she understood how much the show really meant to me.
With her love and support she helped make my dream come true.
Getting into the show in a car with no A.C was not fun when we were not moving.
Engine, pet, and human body temps were flaring up.
I love the event,the people,and the cars.
But the well being of others and myself is far more important.
