I just found a complete 440 in a junked 78' NYer. Without knowing its history what would you consider a decent price for the engine & trans?

Around here they're getting $350 for a 440 block and I have sold several Torqueflites for 125-150 bucks.

Well I spoke with the owner of the car and he told me "I am running low on them and don't want to sell it." First I thought, "Them?" How many do you have? Then I thought here we go again, another potential project engine destined to sit and meet an untimely death to a crusher. He then mentioned a 440 in a motor home that he would possibly sell but had to check around to get a price. I had posted a separate topic regarding the potential of such an engine. Are these a good candidate for a rebuild with the intent on using it as a street engine for a car?:poke:

Motor home 440's have the 452 heads! Grab that S.O.B if you can!!!!!

But some of the motor homes had weird water cooled manifolds and heads...but strip off that stuff and slap on a good set of big block heads and get going.
