A guy in Jonesboro, Arkansas used to build these. He'd take a newly-wrecked '90s Chevy/GMC 1500 or 2500 and cut the frame a little behind the cab, then build a standard 18' car hauler trailer behind that, using torsion axles on the trailer to keep the deck height low, like above. The old Toronado/Eldorado V8 cars were still relatively common then, so he would take that 455 or 500 cubic inch engine, and have a front-drive, big-inch car hauler. They'd pop up in the local Auto Trader now and then, back when that was a newspaper-looking weekly publication.
