When opportunity knocks, what do you do?

I believe the show is several years old now and is in rebroadcasts...

The shop has been a respected major force on the high end restoration scene for many years (I'm talking Pebble Beach here). I don't think it's going anywhere.

Thanks. That sounds much better then.
Its a real shop rather than a tv show that plays with cars!
I don’t watch many of those car resto shows. The personal dramas get annoying.

Nick, my impression has always been that you're a smart guy with outstanding decision making ability... I am sure that you will be fine whatever way you go.

Will is knowledgeable as to how this sort of resume is built and capitalized on,

Good luck buddy, if you're like me, you will probably wonder about the road not taken and where you would have gone if...

I should add that i have not had to consider a family in my decisions to leave a secure position and pursue an opportunity. My decisions only effected myself. I have always leaned towards passionate decisions instead of good sense and reason. Ive worn many different shoes, shared in many career adventures, and have no regretes.
If family, benefits and future security are a large factor then this path may not be for you.
Just things to consider.
Good luck.

Last year at Garlits I could barely walk the field.
This year at Garlits I couldn't walk the field.
Next year?
I don't wanna think about it...
How old are you now, sonny?
I've already decided that if I blow my back out this year at Carlisle, I'm renting the scooter and I won't feel anything but smart for doing so... Tough is way overrated.

You know there are preventative measures that you can do to avoid that sort of thing rather than plan for the next blowout...:poke:

Yes, like stop lifting anything over 50 lbs ..... use brain instead of brawn. Do not jump out of pickups anymore. Stop running anywhere. Reduce stress. Its just not that important. SMOKE ....? You lose.

Jokingly I prepare for the walking, walking, walking at Carlisle by buying beer and ice.
On the other side, I have had mine practically cripple me for a week or two by bending over to pick up a pen.

Nick,
What's the latest.

On of the worst ones I did was turning to pick a glass off of the window sill about the kitchen sink, didn't even bend over. It is no fun having a bad back.

Still awaiting to hear anything either side of the fence. My supervisor (whom is truly more of an uncle to me then anything, he'll my ragtop lived in his backyard for years) and I talked this morning and he told me that he hasn't heard anything yet, but that HR is pushing because of the fact I have been on the books since May that they either need to let me go or bring me in as a part-time on a 6-8 month contract.

I'm hoping for the second option as our union VP told me that after 18 months they have to give me a full-time position. I have over 7 months currently so anytime added to that would put me closer to a full-time position.

The latest job site has over 100,000 sq ft of concrete I walk all day long. I was in shape for Carlisle this year.

The waiting has to be the worst... unless they BOTH come back at the same time and you have to really decide.

Yes, I qualify as a full blown dumbass... FWIW, I do much better when I keep up a good level of activity... without overdoing it. Smoking... one way or another it will stop.

I'd like to think not, but I may be more like you than I want to admit right now.
I've done a lot of stupid stuff in my life. I count smoking as the number one dumbest thing I've ever taken on.
I still do it .. bounce on and off daily, maintain that I will quit, do so for a day or a week, even 8 months a few times but have always gone back. I watch my dad at the ripe ole age of 70 barely able to walk, breath sounds like a gravel truck dumping its load down a steep asphalt hill, still sucking on an e cigarette (puts down 3 cartridges a day which is equal to 3 packs) .. and I still do it.
Keep the faith man, we'll get off this crap yet.
