What would be best recommended brand/size Carby for a mild cam 1969 LA 318 TO SUIT a WEIAND WE18022 Stealth square bore dual plane manifold. ??
I guess there are many ideas,

In case you don't think it is big enough I run that 600cfm 1406 on my stock 440 with no problems.

I’ve been looking at the Eddys w/elec choke for the Monaco. Edelbrock likes to recommend the 750 for my 383 though a 600 should fit and perform fine.

When I looked up the spec on the Eddy carb on my 440 as it came from the previous owner I was appalled. 600cfm on a 440?? WTF? I looked further into their data and found that the carb would start to show a restriction on a 440 at 6300 rpms and up. I never run my stock 440 up there. I also figured the carb I had would atomize the fuel better and more precisely at idle to mid throttle better than a 750 or 800 cfm monster.

I bought my green '68 Sport Fury with a 383 in '98 with an Eddy 1406 electric choke 600 cfm carb already on it and the only thing that I have done to it is make the mixture a little richer when I went racing for a weekend. I think this is a fantastic carb and a perfect choice for you.

Hey Guys, I'm lapping this all up, seems there is consensus that the 1406 elec "Eddy" is the way to go. I guess throttle linkages would be the next hurdle?

If going from 2bbl to 4bbl, you can get the correct linkage off a donor.

Donor cars here are rarer than a Trump fan AND further complicated by my Aussie Fury 111 being a factory RHD not the Wrong Hand Side,
He He!!
P.S So Ok, just bought my Weiand 8022 Manifold on Aussie Ebay now researching the Carby you 'all have recommended.
Thanks,
R

If you can weld, you just move it up and out, can't remember if it needs to go forward a bit. That's what I've done the last few times I swapped in a 4bbl.

Those adaptors are for 2bbl to 4bbl applications i take it. The 1406 looks like a direct replacement of my Carter AFB 4bbl.

I was replying to the first post, he has a 318. I don't think any LA 318 in '69 or any year was available with a 4 barrel. If it's a '69, it'll be a 2 barrel, so the top rod will need to be extended if adding a 4 barrel.

You will still need the throttle lever adapter either way on the Edelbrock Carb, I think they are set up for a Chevy. You need to keep the geometry right for the kickdown linkage.
