Can anyone recommend a good quality front seat cover for a 1968 Chrysler with bench seats? I currently have a blanket laying on the seat, but it's not ideal because it keeps sliding around. Having the seats re-upholstered is the long term plan, but I need something to put on for the near term that fits well, looks decent, and will hold up.

Thanks!

Anything you find will most probably be "universal fit", which might not be wide enough for your seat. Might end up with somethiung to fit a mid-80s Chevy/Ford/Dodge pickup truck bench seat! Maybe going into the supplier-of-covers' website might yield something wider than what the stores might have? Plan on some tightening or tweaking to make it fit best, though.

You might get a trim shop to "used car-ize" the seat with a sheet of vinyl upholstery re-covering what's there? As long as the foam and springs are not exposed. Short term fix which could last longer, if needed.

Just some thoughts,

Just bite the bullet and have a trim shop rebuild the seat with a custom sewn seat cover using your original as a pattern. You won't regret spending the money once it's done. Any material you need is available. (JMHO)

Try the folks I hired to cover my 1966 bench seat!

Ruff Tuff | America's Finest Custom Seat Covers

Given the truly SORRY STATE the seats in Gertrude are in, I plan to transfer the front bench from Mathilda, complete with its velour upholstery and the excellent seatcover to Gertrude. I hope to have the car covered about that time too. I detest vinyl upholstery, especially after the sun heats it up to scalding temperatures.

Their website looks impressive and they are upfront regarding delivery time. I will consider them for one of my pickups. Thanks for the lead!

They made an excellent seatcover for me. I'll probably be using it again in the next couple months, as the vinyl front bench seat in Gertrude is disintegrating. the foam dried out in that barn, and its cracking apart and falling out of the bottom, while the vinyl itself is cracking. THAT seat completely needs redoing, while Mathilda's is still intact!
