I had the steering wheel re-cast a couple of years ago Bob. I've posted pictures here a while ago. Here is how it looks now...

It was stripped to the metal rim, which was rechromed. then the center hub was recast in the correct color material and the transparent rim recast using "glitter" colors selected by me, (green and gold). Modern materials were used to avoid future UV damage.
The horn bars are a NOS thumb bar and the center, "Plymouth" is original to the car.

What was the total cost for the steering wheel? You probably posted that before too.

At the time I paid $1300.00, plus shipping to have the wheel recast. That did not include the 2 piece horn bar.
I understand the current cost has gone to $2300.00. Glad I got it done then.
I have a few high dollar items to buy. Top, pump/motor/cylinders/ hoses. and tires. Faced with the rapidly rising costs I may just bite the bullet and get them, Just eat hot dogs for awhile.

In a word, neglected! The fellow who will do the body work took on a couple of major jobs and is slammed right now. I have been working on sub assembly's and have located a few more NOS items recently though. I'll be happy once the body and paint process is finished. I'll bring Virgil back home to assemble. No more 250 mile trips to the shop to try and get things done.
I know what you mean. I have the same situation with Jacky. The agreement with my painter is that he works on the car everytime he has time for it.

Same Julian. I'm paying on the "buddy" plan. So I take what I can get when I can get it. Virgil is next in line and it won't be much longer.

That would be a great fantasy Stan. I would welcome the extra pair of expert hands. It won't be long and I will need help reinstalling the dash assembly...... wink/wink.

I ordered the convertible top for Virgil yesterday. ARO, my top suppler of choose, couldn't offer the green tinted rear plastic window I wanted so I found it at "Tops on line". They come with great reviews, will see.

Not much. It's been on the back burner for awhile. I've relocated recently, and that took, (still is), a lot of my effort. I'm anxious to get back to it again though. Will update the thread when I do.
