WHAT ? Another 61 Fury restroation......

Reached a point where the final white primer coat is being applied. Cowl, A pillar, door jambs, lower rockers and 1/4 panels ready to sand and block. Upper body next, probably Monday. Next time the paint gun will be shooting final color. We may shoot the emerald green first....

My cost on the grille was $350.00. I think it was a bargain considering what I ended up with. I doubt a NOS grille world look as nice. The two side mounting moldings were done separate some time ago. I don't remember the cost, probably around another $50. or 75 bucks. Then add the cost of the NOS gold Medalion. Can get pricey.

Wow the polishing by some one else can get pricey. My dad and I did the polishing our selves to save some money but the grille does look good. In the future I will need to get my Bumpers redone especially the rear but I am going to try to polish them more to try to make them look better. It will give me something to do when I am bored. My front bumper comes apart but the rear does not .

Finally...... The paint process has started. Primary body color, Alpine white, applied to the body with a "fast" clear cote. some more sanding and the Emerald Green will be sprayed on the sides.... Then a final clear over everything. Only 6 years to get to this point.

Hey Will, I was re reading your thread from the beginning.
On post #58 your saying that Chrysler didn’t paint under hood insulation in body color?
I just got this 61 project car in with the same. It has these large insulation clips that I have not seen before.

My statement should have said that not ALL Mopars were painted
body color under the hood and/or trunk lids Ken. I'm not sure why but many Mopars throughout the 50's were produced with a sealer/primer finish under the hood and deck lids. Perhaps it was a assembly plant policy. My car was built in Detroit.
The under hood pad was an option, The clips held it in place, My Fury has those large metal clips in place also.

Both of my '61s had the under hood pad but 1 had to be replaced . I got my radiator back from the shop it was 2/3s clogged . My dad figured that some one ran water instead of antifreeze

Heres a look at the Emerald green I have selected. Very close to the correct "G" code Emeral green on the 61 Plymouth color chart. 1 gal paint, 1 gal reducer, 1 gal show clear...... $460.00.
Will be delivered tonight and should be able to spray, (body), tomorrow
