The challenge with these wheels is removing the rust from the rim whilst not damaging the chrome center section....
On mine, I think I am thinking about making a special container for soaking them in Evapo-rust, with wheels oriented vertically, so that the chemical only covers the rim. If the Chrome comes into contact with the chemical, it will fall out into solution and eventually deposit copper onto the bare steel areas (from experience). This despite Evapo-rust not being an acid...

Correct me if I'm wrong, I think these came in either 6" or 7" width depending on the year of manufacture? If so which are these? Thank you.They'll eventually be for sale

I used cleaning vinegar to remove the rust from the road wheels i am putting on my wagon. I soaked absorbable puppy pads then wrapped the wheel with them and let them sit for about a week then was able to use a wire brush green scotch pads to remove all the residue.
3699461 is listed as b/c 15x6.5 rallye class one.
what center cap is that? Where I got these he had a car with another set of rims on it with those centers.

I believe they are the later style 74-78 as the wheels came from a 77 New Yorker. The center cap part # is 3699011

W23s are listed as "Class II, 16-Slot Road Wheels". There WAS a 15x6.5 Rallye wheel that was optional on the mid-'70s Charger SE. They look like the 14" Rallye wheels. I bought a set of them out of a local salvage yard and they are now on my '70 DH43 as the OEM W-23s "rest".
yes, I've had those too. Galen's book does call the c body ones styled wheel I guess. but lists the 6.5" for C's as well - maybe a mistake for the B body Fury vs Gran Fury?
78 NYB Salons had as standard had black painted 15x7 road wheels under the "aluminum fascia basket" and trim rings.
these wheels were also available as an option on 78 Dodge Magnum XEs, Monacos and Plymouth Furys but not available on other Chryslers

Thanks again for checking the width of the rims. I have 4 good 6" (as far as I know) road wheels. Is the center cap the "volcano" style? Will it eventually be for sale too?They'll eventually be for sale

The 15x7 version of the road wheel debuted in 78 (used behind the aluminum fascia road wheels above) and then used til 81 on M bodies (chrome again and with plastic inserts that were painted to match the colour of the car.

There are a few ok center bodies, only 2 of the splined top cap.
I may sell singles to those who have asked, but it's an even 12 right now.
I'm planning on light restoring the best 4 for resale as a set. Probably sell some others undone for those who like to restore themselves.

I've had good luck soaking wheels in vinegar, I used a cut-down plastic barrel (got from work) and then a 1500w $40 heater from Amazon.
Depending on barrel height you can do multiple wheels at once.
Heat really accelerates vinegar's work. I let them soak for 1-2 days, keeping the heater on only in the evenings when I was home.
It did not seem to affect the chrome, but it did weaken the existing silver paint.
And totally removes other paint.
