Mecum Kissimee will have 11 of 503 produced 69 Dodge Daytonas for sale. For millionaires this must be like ordering a new car, you can choose engine and color options as you like!

Not a fan of winged things, but I’d prefer the Superbird over the Daytona. I also like little hot dogs in blankets over caviar, so my opinion here doesn’t really count. Carry on!

results are in. About $6,7mio if you disregard the Corvette and the Camaro which weren´t part of the collection.
Estimate was about $9mio.

Thanks for posting.

Like them or not, the values are rising, I wonder if Spade want's his back now!?

I,m waiting for this auction....think it,s going for more than a million...

Most of the wing cars had a result below estimate. I could imagine that 7 Daytonas and 5 Superbirds were an overdose. For maximum profit he should´ve split the collection on multiple auctions. But I suppose one million or less on the bank account doesn´t matter to him

Yes, I will be waiting to see the bidding on this car. Have seen it this past summer at one of our local shows and got to talk to the son, Greg. Told him we actually went out 2 nights in a row back in the summer of 1972 looking to see if we could just see his dad race but we had no luck. His car was a legend back then with the stories about a black Chally just blowing other racers off the road. I'm just sorry to see it leaving the family because i'll probably never get to see it again.

When large significant collections are brought to market, special circumstances come into play to ensure these collections go to one particular auction house vs another. He could have gotten zero sellers premium vs the standard 10%. As well as free transport, detailing and guarantees on certain cars. Things he might not have gotten if he had split the collection. A lot of factors at play.

The ghost is getting slammed on the internet for being a made up tale. Created for the sole purpose of selling the car this summer. People on both sides are adamant their point of view is correct. I spoke to some serious buyers of the past few days, none of them had any interest in this car for the numbers people think. Of course, it only takes 1 or 2 to get the number up in the air.

I examined The Ghost very closely at Amelia a year ago. It's not what I would call "pretty" in its current rough-but-original condition, but the history is there to see.

Here are some up-close pics. How about the action figures on the dash? I think they were Star Trek.

As Trev said, thanks for posting. I would of never thought the 4-door Barracuda would of went for $121,000.
I would bet that Dave spent that much on NOS parts alone for this car.
I'm surprised it sold as low as it did.

Somewhere I read it cost a million dollars to build the 4 door barracuda. So many of the parts were 1 off parts that had to be custom made by outside manufacturers, like the all the glass. And the labor was 1000's of hours. I appreciate the idea and the effort to build the car. I also read an article about the white challenger that dave built, that the white challenger has 4 NOS tires, and someone spent 80 hours cleaning all the tiny dirt particles out of EACH groove on the NOS tires. OBESSION is the word that comes to mind. I respect the man , he did a lot for the mopar world, with his cars, and parts.
