UNBREADED! '71 Monaco Wagon

While I have no doubt you've mastered the internet, your posts here suggest "How to tow safely" would not be found in your history or favorites list.

And I will also bet he ran while holding scissors and I know damn well he doesn't look both way before crossing the street every time....
OMG.... And he is still alive... Wadda ya know....

I get my scissors back after I clean my room.

I ended up towing my 300F to its last meet due to last minute fuel system problems. I went to the U haul office and was honest about what I was going to tow with their trailer (I was concerned about liability issues if any gawkers on the freeway were distracted and caused a problem that resulted in an accident) and they looked up the car in their applications book and it said it was a go if my tow vehicle met their requirements. The tow vehicle was a new Jeep Grand Cherokee trail hawk and they said it would be acceptable with that vehicle. So we used their trailer and it worked fine and it was all legit.

Winston on the left, and Romeo on the right. Great travel companions, they behaved very well.

I rented a truck and a U-Haul trailer, and the wagon towed like crap from Idaho all they way to eastern Wyoming, then it settled down a bit, and I was able to go faster than 65. Glad I've towed with these U-Haul trailers before, or I'd have had such a deep pucker, I'd have sucked the seat cover in!

If you can't tow 5-7K and not even know you're towing something you have the wrong equipment.
Ignorance of towing safety is no excuse.

Yep, that's a summary of the trip. The wagon was towed safely.

Car started up in the cold with relative ease. Turned it around when making room.

I'm a day late and a dollar short, but it's been one year since I picked up the wagon from Dave, and also took in two loveable furballs. I hope to have the wagon out in a few weeks, sooner if the weather cooperates.

Per Uhaul.com, the maximum load on its Auto Transport (flatbed) is 5,290 lb. That’s close enough to the published figures I’ve seen for my T&C that I’d do my homework to verify how much it actually weighs (including the gas in the tank) before considering this method of transport.

I've seen 6,250 somewhere before when I towed my Monaco 500's back in 2018. A year earlier their site said they were too heavy. I was 650 lbs under max weight with the wagon, good to know.

My coworker sent his drone over my property and sent me this picture.

It was maybe an hour after I brought the car home.

I need to fix the wiper linkage, the driver's wiper rotates around and is horizontal. It did clear the windshield at least, just looks funky.

Took the car over to a friends, just a few blocks away, started fairly easy and was willing to move after minimal idling. After an hour or so, it started right back up with just the turn of the key, very nice to experience. I took it out of town just a few miles to get it up to highway speed, and it behaved fairly well, but I should check the front end, steering was a little sloppy. The oil light did come on at low speed, when I was off the throttle. Light stays off at 30mph, but comes on when I'm off the gas. Exhaust still has a slight leak, not as bad as I remember it being last fall. Not a bad test run, got t enough feedback for what to deal with first.

I would have taken a picture while driving, but I use my phone as a speedometer until I can get the one in the dash operating correctly.

Oh, cool, you’ve got a 140-mph cop-car speedometer!

Went to move the car so I could mow, and the battery's dead! Cables have crap ends that were loose, tried to tighten them before I checked the voltage, didn't help. All other connections seem good. It's in the charger now, hopefully not garbage, but it was cheap, I may have gotten what I paid for.

Moved it so I could mow. I'll have to put some miles on over the next couple of days, I need to make sure it's up for the trip to Mopars in the Park June 2-4.
