65 New Yorker Tie Rods

Hi All,

I just started working on my 1965 Chrysler New Yorker. My Dad had one of these when I was young and that's what I learned to drive in. So, when I saw this one for sale in the Northeast and it wasn't a complete rust bucket, I had to buy it. It's straight, body and frame aren't rusted, all 4-power windows work, power antenna works, cigar lighters work, all lights, horn, radio work. Overall, it's in incredibly good shape for being 60 years old.

So, onto my dilemma. A lot of the suspension, steering boots and bushings were dry rotted so I started there. I bought a complete front end suspension kit from A-Resto Parts. The tie rod ends on the car have an offset on both the inner and outer. They look identical except one has right hand threads and one is left hand threads. The ones I got from A-Resto have an offset on the outer, but the inner one is straight. Everywhere I looked, Rockauto, Kanter, etc., the part #s are the same as what I got from A-Resto. So, I think they're right.

Has anyone come across this? I'm not sure what will be affected if I use the ones from A-Resto.

Put the new one on top of the old one to see if they line up with each other.

Going forward, you may want to reach out to Craig (goes by @mobileparts ) and Marty (goes by @marty mopar and also owns @martymopar ) -- there are no better sources for NOS parts, Marty mostly NOS trim and Craig mostly suspension parts (NOS and high-quality repos). For ignition parts, ask @halifaxhops.

I have bought parts from all three and they come through every time, all the time.

@Big_John has a 1965 Chrysler and his advice is always highly sensible.

All three outfits you mention are all Chineseum — and may be okay for a little 6 cylinder Ford Mustang — but will be strength challenged for a MOPAR “ C “ Body….

I have all sixteen ( 16 ) items for a complete Front End , and I would be surprised if your “ kit “ has all sixteen ……
