Why would the year a paint came out dictate what year car it should be on?

So C8 or Y3 shouldnt be used on a 70 car because it was out in 71? Yet the 70's are so similar to the 71's many cant tell the difference of the year car, let alone the paint.

Well I specified the high impact paint on purpose. Hemi orange, lime light, plum crazy, etc don't look right to me on cars that it wasn't available on (talking about 60-70's muscle cars to include C bodies here and not little deuce coupe hot rods ... they look amazing in yellow or red or even lime green), same with wheels and hubcaps.

Now I like some mag wheels on some cars but not mixing and matching factory stuff that wasn't available on a given make/model/year. I really don't care for the car above either. If I saw a 70 or any other car that was well done I may like it and I may not but it would depend on overall execution as a whole package, but that's just my opinion.

That is a factory C7 car... I dont see the difference except one is a 69 and one is a 70 ........ Dont like it? I get it, but for other reasons I hope besides it doesnt belong on there because they didnt paint them that color that year...:nono:

I don't like either car based on execution. I appreciate many cars that are done in a way that I wouldn't do them, but I still wouldn't buy or do them that way.

Addendum I think Plum Crazy and "B5" are probably the 2 most mis-executed colors based on hue and how much metallic is added there are .. especially the FC7

The 70 above looks like the correct color just oxidized. The 69 above looks like it's too light, possibly because too much metal flake if it has any .. to hard to tell from the lighting and pic quality.

I personally wouldn't paint any car purple that didn't leave the factory that way, the same thing can be said for most of the other colors. If there's actually no documentation left with a car that states the original color, than maybe you take some liberties but it still ain't gonna be purple!

You gotta have a passion for it. My white car WONT be white since nothing else will be stock i can take that liberty

I know when my Sport Fury is done it will be blue, maybe not the factory blue but it will still be blue.

And Bryan, why look at them at C7 and B5, why cant you look at them as purple and blue?

I may have forgot to mention I'm not a massive fan of FC7. It looks good if properly done on some cars if everything else compliments it and vice versa.

Nothing to do with it but ok.....

That and the lack of consistency of cars re-painted or changed to FC7 is probably what affects my opinion of the color is why I mentioned it

What color do you think you will paint your white car?

Any color is open except white, black or red....

Only a car that was originally FC7 should be considered FC7.....otherwise, its purple.
Your outlook is understandable, my FK5 car is brighter and shinier than most original K5 cars. I have never seen one repainted the color of mine

Really think this car is way overpriced. Interior is shot, dashpad is shot, top needs replacing, and has the wrong engine. God knows what else it needs, likely most everything. Stay away!
