HI guys.
Just went and had a look at the door tag and says 5/78 so also may.
but then looked at the sale forum form the Chrysler dealership. And it got 1978 Newport sold as NEW and the date believe it or not 6/1/1979.
must have sat on the yard for a long time. so is it a 1978 or maybe the only 1979 C body. lol

What will really determine the "last" car is the MDH number on the label on the end of the driver's door. THAT's the date of production !

As to Chrysler keeping the last '78, in 1978 Chrysler was unofficially "embarassed" to be building "Cbodies when GM had already downsized their `full-size' cars (GM was Chrysler's role model - for better or worse). So I think they were simply really glad to build out the end of production so that they could move on to the Rbody cars - crappy as they were with their self destructing window regulators and `watch me while I rot' aluminum bumpers. I absolutely loved the look of those cars, but my ghawd they were nasty. Building them at Lynch Road was another kiss of death for me as well. Anybody who ever got a "good" car from Lynch Road got a fluke.

Wow. I'm interested in your comment about Lynch Rd.
All plants were horrible in that era. Serious labor management problems were at its peak. But why Lynch Rd.in particular.

My 1978 NYBS' MDH is 052212, so that is May 22, 1978, 12 noon. The EXACT date of my HS graduation! A Monday, BTW!

So far, I'm the only '78 C-body owner that has posted the MDH info. Anyone else??? Get that MDH info off your door sticker. Let's see it.

Yours is still a '78 car. The sale date is irrelevant.

I think he knows that. He put lol at the end. He also says it "must have sat on the yard a long time" So in order for it to have sat anywhere it must have already been built

MY 78 Newport MDH is 051506.

I was a Sergeant in the U.S. Army by then....1st Squadron, 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment.

Both of our cars were built on Monday's.

Mine was finished at 0600 hours.....those union workers were drunk and high by time yours finished up at noon. LOL!

All this discussion about the last C body has me wondering if there is a "Show us your Formal" thread. I don't want to start a new thread if it has been done.

I highly suggest you start one Mr C.
Many of us have seen your collection but they absolutely deserve to be seen again or for the first time by the newer members.
