Does anyone know who would carry preferably new gas tanks for a 65 Monaco?Or what other models use the same tank? IMG_0917.jpg

No reproductions for '65's. You have to either fix yours or get a good donor from a '65 Monaco, Polara, or Custom 880.

I am not saying that there is a tank out there that will or will not be an exact replacement, but I have never seen a repro tank say that it fits a '65, it is always '66 and up. '65's are a different animal on a whole bunch of different fronts.

What worries me is they told me its a special order and cannot be returned if its wrong, otherwise I would give it a
shot

I have been told and confirmed by at least two people that the 67 tank works and the reason the mfgr doesn't list it as fitting earlier years is only because of the fuel line connections that were required by the CAFE rules.
So they say...
I believe it.
If it was my car, I'd give it a shot.

Here is a pic of an actual 67 tank. You decide.

I'm thinking I should just bite the bullet and give it a shot,I've got to try something.
It just so happens my car will be up in the air for a while so it's easy to measure.
If you get some dimensions, you can compare before you buy.

Notice how it is offset and snugs up to the frame rail on the driver's side

what year is that tank from?I think the tank I was looking at was 40.5x27.5x8

That is the original tank in a 1967 Newport.

That 40.5 with the gas filler installed?
Also, my dimensions don't include the midsection flange.

Joe do you have your tank out? If we had pics and you listed dimensions of it, that would help a lot.

No I haven't taken out the tank,I'm still able to use the car as long as I don't put too much gas in the tank.We had it on the lift Friday to change the sending unit when we saw the area around the old sending unit was bad so we didn't want to disturb it until we got a new tank.On Monday I will get some measurements to compare.

And I'm saying that there is no later year tank that can be used on a 65 Fury because of the side filler pipe. This 65 Monaco has a rear filler pipe, like the 66+ tanks. I say the difference is in the vent lines which were different in the 65 and 66+ tanks.
This is only an intelligent guess.
But until someone slides under their damn car (hint hint) and gets dimensions, we'll go back and forth on this until the damn cows come home.

I've put in my effort to try and help out.... :BangHead:
