The sending units they sell these days are garbage.
You can go thru a 1/2 dz before you get one that is in spec.

I agree with all of that, except for the part about 17% of them being good, I don't think it's that many.

I'm probably next in line for tank replacement. Did you need to use some sort of rubber mat or insulation liner between tank and body or straps?

I used a rubber mat when I did my 67. I recommend it.

I did use new straps and they were for 65-66 C-bodies,but I didn't use the original mat,probably should have gone with a rubber one.

Just to let you know 1967 and newer tanks will not work. I am going thru the same problem trying to find a tank for my 1966 300 4 dr. Does anyone out there have one for that?

Extreme caution here! I am going to flat out tell everybody on this forum that the Spectrum CR20B Tank DOES NOT and will not fit on a 65 Monaco. The extra 2 inches in length do matter and will not allow this tank to fit in the car properly. I believe the tank is deemed 67-68 Newport and that I am sure it will fit. This is not a suitable replacement tank for the 65 Monaco.

I spent most all day weekend/today trying to get this tank to fit, and it will not without modification. It is too long length wise front to back. This gentleman may have gotten this tank to fit in the car. Though the J-Bolts don't line up correctly and it sits too far forward toward the pumpkin. The extra 2 inches is a safety issue with the pumpkin and the shocks. I even tried other tank straps, but it is a length issue.

There was more to this tank install story then what was posted in this forum. I have 2 of these cars and I'm not calling anyone out, but be extremely careful. Now I'm out $300.00 dollars and sitting with a car with no gas tank.

If Joeharley01 is still a member on this site, I'd really like to talk with him and see what he did differently than me. I know, I seen the pictures as well and believed in this enough to spend the money to find out it is wrong!

I seen those tanks as well, but Vans does not show good shots of the sending unit/fuel pickup hole and vents to know. Also, no dimensions listed. I am almost of the mind that I will have to rely on measurements. Thanks for the help. This is a pickle.

Great idea! I am calling Vans today and see. I'll update everyone. Pictures are too hard to make an appropriate determination.

I called Vans Auto today. They are sending me some more pics of their 65-65 C body fuel tank. They say it will fit. FYI, they will be at Carlisle in July with tanks etc.
