Carlisle, Pittsburgh, Orlando... my summer vacation

I'm looking forward to meeting you as well Jeff. I'm bringing my 78 NYB and a 10x10 snapon pop up to hide from the sun.
When I traveled drilling test boring's, I used to call Hoss's the "House of salmonella". Only in joking of course. They do make a great steak. But no beer!. And nothing goes better than a steak and an ice cold beer!
Looking forward to meeting all you guys!
Can't wait to check out your ride... I will bring a HF popup... hopefully the cheap wont rub off onto yours.:)

That's very true.

I've traveled a lot for work in the last 20+ years and I always tried to go off the beaten path for food. I will admit a weakness for breakfast at Cracker Barrel (any time of the day) but other than that, I stay out of the chains.

There's a couple places in Harrisburg that Mrs. Big John really likes. We were going to the Appalachian Brewing company there and now I see they have opened another brewpub in Mechanicsburg where we are staying, so we will be hitting that one for sure.
I normally love local places, in a town with that much tourism, I bet the locals are over us. I have been around enough people in the food and beverage gig, if someone pitches a fit before the food comes... I'm not eating.

So... I'm off work and should be elbow deep in something right now. Friday I came home exhausted, Saturday I managed to tweak my back before noon... so I have been gingerly putzing around in the garage and trying to get some of my impossible list accomplished.

Sorry PGH folks... I wont be there Friday. I will be at Carlisle though...

Speaking of.. Since this is my first time "on the field" as a participant, can you guys give some "Must bring" items that I'll need to have while in there? I'm bringing a 10x10 gazebo to cover me and the car from the heat, folding chair, cooler, things like that. I'll be camping on the field too, so I have camping stuff. What other items are a Must bring? Don't be afraid.. Lol give me a list. Lol.

You all have a great time, travel safely and see if you can manage a group picture. If there are no pics how do you expect me to be jealous all the way over here in Detroit???

Sunscreen for when you're not under your tent.

I may be one of the few C-Bodies to invade the ProMod race at Maple Grove Dragway on Sunday...

If you want to see the fastest doorslammer's on the planet run in the 5.70 - 5.80 second range in a 1/4 mile at +250 mph come and join me. I guarantee you that you won't be dissappointed if you never seen ProMod's before...

FYI...the racetrack is 75 miles due east on I-76. On the way home for me...sort of.

I bet you already have that little voice in the back of your mind trying to justify the trip... now if we can just get the missus on our side, you'll have to come.:)

Thanks, Bob... I might just take you up on that... I have the room Sunday night too... but I don't feel trapped by that. I'll have to see how damaged I have become by then...

Beer.....! Lots of beer.
A wide brim hat
long sleeves
good walking shoes X2
a sturdy tote bag, (We'll have some if needed).
A note pad and pen, (you'll never remember where that part you want to go back and get is).
Candy bars.

Others will chime in.

I usually text myself with memorable parts, I would lose the paper pad, zip lock bag full of candy bars in cooler is good idea. Lots of beer is always needed.
