I surely did, if the VIN didn't start with PM27T0D I stopped looking. I did collect pictures of the cleaner specimens so that I could get mine looking right.

As for various sales reports and options reports, I don't know how accurate they are. At best they are educated guess work.

Based on % but close enough and better than youre ever gonna get

Problem with "educated guessing" is every interest group has a different guess. Case in point look at all the talking heads on the news networks that give their guess as to what the political world is doing and remember how well they did on your last election. My 1 of 7 and now 1 of 8 is based on physical VIN numbers, my guesstimate of possibly 20 built is simply a wild *** guess of 10% of the 1952 verts produced. Is it accurate, who knows.:soapbox::thumbsup:

10% would be just under 200, not 20 but if the actual percentage was 10% then we would know 195.2 convertibles were built with a 440. Pretty damn close, not a guess

Wow. A guy with a car for sale tries to help board members know what the car is and he gets gutted and everyone else gets into a pissing contest.
I am almost sorry I mentioned this car.
Maybe this is why comments are prohibited in the FS section on FBBO. Mah I suggest we put them away and zip up?

You are right, enough is enough. I'll depart with one last point.
If I didn't already have a 440 vert and was I 20 years younger, I would buy this "1 of 8" car and do a full rotisserie restoration.
:canada::thumbsup:

Little update. Car is to be picked up Saturday. New owner is keeping driveline for a b body and crushing it. Thanks to all the real c body and car guys that contacted me. I enjoyed our correspondence and those that added something positive and educational. Sorry to say I won't be back. Too many egos and experts The rest of you have fun with your little piece of the internet until you end up running everyone off. It's sad to see a few ruin it for so many

Would seem to me that the new owner is not much of a Mopar fan at all in my book. If you like Mopars, like I like Fords, then it shouldn't matter which rare car it is. Clearly the new owner is a B body fan but that is about it and nothing more than that. On the other hand I like all Fords, from the lowly Pinto and up to the full size LTD, and could never consider raping a decent saveable one for another except in the case of a total derelict.

A true Mopar fan would like all Mopars from a Valiant/Dart all the way up to the Imperial and that includes the K cars. They would endeavor to save such a rare and saveable car despite their preferences. Neither the seller or the buyer are true fans but something else.

I decided to list this posting on its own because it could be a rare factory 440 car. As some of you will know, there are something like 6 factory 440 cars known to exist. This may be one more? It is certainly worth bringing it to everyone's general attention.
Thank you Gary for bringing this one to the membership's (and the lurkers) attention.

Too bad she didn't get saved.
To my knowledge you have never seen this car in person, if you don't have anything credible to add move on
If an admin wants to chastise me for calling out someone spreading false info, so be it. I didn't tell you to leave a thread, I said if you have nothing to add you should keep scrolling. I didn't post this car here and since I know you've never seen it I don't know what you could add but speculation
You can do what you want. The ad accurately describes what it is and is not. Anyone that was interested got about 30 pics sent to them, including the fender tag. Yes it is a factory 440 car. I believe it was originally red. It is complete. As the ad says it's a project and the price reflects that. I wouldn't consider it a huge project but I can see where some might. It's a 1 of 8 car and priced fairly. If I don't move it soon, the driveline will be rebuilt for a b body and the car will be crushed. Lastly. The car is 47 years old and a convertible , with a big block for under 2500. Of course it needs restoration. However the level of work it may require depends on who buys it
I came to this site because I was told my ad had been posted here and I wanted to see it. When I read the comments I saw a lot of speculation and some outright false statements. When I posted the correct information I was told I needed "schooled" on how things work here. I would assume they are like everywhere else, people want facts not assumptions. The condition of the car depends on the buyer. If you want a factory restoration it's a complete tear down. If you want to clean it up and drive it in the summer it's a few weekends. Of course I got an attitude when some "experts" start telling others about a car they have never seen or attack me when I set the record straight. I never said you could put gas in it and drive home but some of you act like I'm trying to sell a lugnut with a title
Lol. Like I said you aren't going to believe anything I post so look it up. I can't misrepresent what you find. If you don't want to that's fine but don't make assumptions and state them as facts. I get it, you don't like me and you aren't interested in the car, that's fine. What I don't get is that you don't have anything better to do than post negative comments on a stranger and his car. Lol.
Nice diversion. Lol. I like your posts. They entertain me.
Factory 440. Vin matches, and fender tag posted earlier. Good title. Needs lower front and rear quarter work, trunk work on sides, floor patch drivers rear. Doors open and close as new with good gaps on all panels. Rockers and frame good. Car is complete minus factory radiator. I have replacement. Trim good, needs top, all parts there.
Lol. I sleep well at night. If you think I need to be dishonest for any reason you are a sad, sad man. Come to think of it, it doesn't matter what you think, you are a sad individual. You may feel important beating up on a new member behind your keyboard but my ad wasn't posted by me and I didn't solicit this page. I came here to correct misinformation. Luckily I am entertained by you in the process. I'm not going to sell my car to you. I doubt you have the budget. I'm pretty close to asking my ad be taken down entirely. Then you can brag to everyone how you "schooled me" on how things work around here. If your posts are any indication of how things work here, I'm not interested in it.
Thanks for the input. I have accurately described the car in another post and you are right about a snake pit. Anyone who questioned my information can now relax. I would disagree with one statement. I could have this car ready to rock in a few weekends easily. That is a fact. I would also like to buy the other $100 440 verts you mentioned. Not everyone wants a complete restoration. I would price that at 6-12k my cost. If I wanted to just drive it, maybe 1200 dollars. I would drop the top and weld in some patches, tires, brakes, fluids, tune up and a 1/2 gallon of simple green. Boom. Cruising. Thanks for your input

This is more a statement than a specific reply to largestar. While I realize he didn't bring the car here for sale in the first place, it was offered on the free market and is subject to speculation until a serious party goes to the car to speculate how bad things really are... we all know how much stuff is hidden until you strip it to steel.

While I can see why largestar felt his sale was being trampled here, and any publicity is good publicity. Like others who have happened along after finding their ads in discussion here... please try to grow a little more skin. I don't believe anything was a personal attack until largestar chose to make it so and responded in fashion. It is clear to me that largestar took the bait every single time, and responded in anger. It is far better to check your ego and play to the pertinent information if you are the seller. The comments by others may raise awareness, but should not hurt a serious sale.

This is a small board with a small number of regular poster's, we seem to struggle to get past 100 votes on the surveys put out there... and often far fewer. If these 100ish folks had both the means and the desire to own his car, somebody would have already bought it, if they weren't turned off by the bickering. IMO, one of our favorite pastimes is looking at, critiquing and outright bashing the few C Bodies found for sale. I wouldn't want to change a thing.

By the way... every single member here I have had the pleasure of meeting or engaging in private conversation with has been an outstanding human being and seem to want to help others who are serious in the pursuit of C Body love. It's nice how our different viewpoints don't seem to cloud our personal interactions. If largestar had been trying to put his Fury back together, I believe most of those he thought were bashing him would have been very supportive.

The childishness of coming back to administer the coup de gras, by happily informing everyone that the car is to be crushed, derbied or parted is disturbing to me. I think most of us have killed a car we wished we had saved, but to try to affix blame for that onto someone who appreciated the machine enough to notice it is an interesting way to express yourself. (My new PC training at work has told me to assign the term "interesting" in place of all other adjectives I may naturally use to describe a person, their thoughts or their actions).

" Sorry to say I won't be back." If largestar does return... No I am not looking to pick a fight with you. I am expressing my thoughts on how this thread has been mishandled... perhaps hoping the next person who finds their unwanted car for sale here doesn't repeat the mistakes of those before them. I actually have no issue with you, and until this last post I was hopeful you would find someone to save this car... nobody disputed that it was a rare car or that it could be saved. There have also been others who got over their emotional reactions and found they could enjoy being here... most of the membership forgave them, even after more severe attacks than this thread contains.

The old " it's being sold to a b body guy, the heart is getting ripped out then crushed" tactic .... " I won't be back" ...
The sun will rise tomorrow.

I respectfully question the "B body guy is taking the heart and crushing it" in the shape it is in it would require full passion to save it. if anyone were buying it for the drive-line they would start advertising parts that wouldn't work on their project in an attempt to offset costs.
also lets be honest, this is generally a rough place to get a gauge on the value of a C body.
