That's it. No big blocks after 1971.

1972 had a slant 6, 318, and 340. The R/T series was replaced with the Ralleye Series even though they weren't badged. The only way to tell if it was a Ralleye (R/T) was the dual power bulge hood and of course the VIN. Slant 6 and 318 didn't come with that hood. 1972 was the last year of the convertible too. 1973 only had the 318 and 340 available, the slant 6 was dropped. 1974 only had the 318 and the 360, the 340 was dropped.

Very surprising that the E's never got the 400 as an option.

Also the mock vent with the stripes across the doors...

Possibly just an option, but I expect only on the Ralley...

Thats a very interesting observation.
Probably a gas mileage/red tape/pollution/EPA thing that Chrysler did not want to have to deal with.
Yeah but you could buy a B-body with BB's, what truly is the difference?

Oh Bob pull out the pic of the 1 of 1 '72, well played my friend!

Ok Bob, that's just some bodies sawzall hack job, enough already!

Dodge made very few 1972 Challenger convertibles. I don't know what the exact number was. On the code line which gives the dealer order number, that number will start with an "R", which designates "Special Meaning" (usually for a TV 'special promotions' car).

Yep, they have 1972 fronts and rears on them. The VIN and fender tags were 1972.
