My new 1972 Imperial purchase delivered today.

Here's the current steering wheel...maybe find a stock one... likely black or white?
I'll grab a photo of the VIN tag later today for those interested.

Very interesting car… I assume it’s original FE5 “Rallye Red” (which was probably called something else on an Imperial).

It’s a point of minor fascination to me that Chrysler pushed these Easter-Egg colored Imperials. In terms what I’ve seen 45 years later, most common a tie between the Light (Mist) Green and Light (Sunfire) Yellow, then Blue Sky. Least common appears to be Rallye Red. If I were a collector with infinite space, I’d like to get one of each! Below was as close as I came, but I couldn’t keep that going for long… it’s just too much to store and I didn’t have the hiding places (e.g. rental properties) back then that I do now.

You may find this interesting… I think Chrysler intended a travelin’ C-body road show back in ’73 with “light custom” versions of a Newport Coupe (Mariner), Fury 4drhtp (Aspen), Polara Coupe (Sundance) AND a Rallye Red 4drhtp Imperial, w/white leather and sunroof, ABS, tape deck, etc. Murray Park owns that car now after discovering it in a Detroit backyard.

Good luck with the car. Obviously the side-pipes are silly with duals exiting the rear. White-letter-moonies belong on ’57 Chevys with fuzzy dice and poodle skirts. That previous owner should have to register on a spray-paint offenders list. If I were you and somebody had already screwed up my roof, I’d seriously consider swapping in a factory sunroof. But at any rate, please preserve it as well as you can. It’s a rare one.

This is great information. ..i really appreciate everyone's feedback on this one...I will have many questions as I dive into it soon...that VIN tag may help with the type of Red color...it's kind of orangey in a way.

Fender tag. I see it there on your radiator core support. We need to see it.

Nice Imperial. Would look the part with stock wheels and wheel covers.

Anybody know what those colored switches are? red green blue above stereo. Is this another auto zone add on?

Well it's hiding the spot where the ac/heater controls should be... you'll figure it out, when you need the ac or the heat.
At least there's no tach bolted thru the dash. Lol

Thanks for all the input about my new purchase. The previous owner passed away. The wife just wanted no hassle storing it or keeping it maintained . So this will be an interesting adventure as I dive into the unknown.

Maybe it's a new bypass for the ATC II. Could be interesting.
My steering wheel is black with the rim blow horn btw, to match the black dash. Does it have tilt and telescopic on the column or is that gone.
I see they removed the ac compressor and there is some kind of petcock (hard to see) on the one heater core hose. If I were you, I'd remove all that insulation wrap on those hose and check condition of the actual hoses themselves and the clamps.

nice looking ride I like it. if you ditch the sidepipes I might be interested in them for another project of mine. I just recently built a 64 dart for my grandson with early thrush pipes. I thing they look cool on it. good luck with your new ride.
