I'd like to know what I actually have in my '67 New Yorker other than a 440. I've attached the fender tag and the VIN number. According to my 1967 service manual I have a "Special Order 8". How can I figure out what the HP and torque ratings are? The carb tag and base number is 4966S which I'm finding is a Carter AVS (Adjustable Vacuum Secondaries) I saw somewhere this is a 750 cfm carb. Is that correct?

Not a 750, biggest Carter avs they used was something in the neighborhood of 550 (ratings were done a little different then). Most likely a 350 horse version.

In 1967 nearly all 440 engines were 350 horse power. There was a high performance option for the Dodge Charger and some police cruisers, but that was not offered as far as I know in the Chrysler line in '67. If you can find the build sheet, you might be able to determine what the special order engine option on the engine was. Could be a lot of different things.

Carter 4966 was the OEM carb for 70-71 Chrysler engines.

Carter 4966 was the OEM carb for 70-71 Chrysler engines. DO you know if your engine is original? There is a machined pad to the right of the distributor. On that pad will be stamped an alphabetic letter, for 1967 this should be the letter "C" followed by the engine displacement "440". There will also usually be a date stamp such as 04 67. There also should be a date casting number on the side of the block.

That's a good number on that carb. If you decide to not use it, it would bring good $$ to a restoration person for a 70-71 440
The 81 is the engine code I believe that is standard 440

Note "K" is the 1966 special order engine code. For 1967 it is for the 440-4 engine.

......According to my 1967 service manual I have a "Special Order 8".

There is a "note" in Galen's White Book for the "K engine" that says "The 1967 CHRY+PLY Serv. Manual are incorrect".

His book says the "K" engine is a 440 w/single 4 bbl. NOT the HP version, which is "L" code.

My Imp has the same K in the vin and codes on the tag.
