Chrysler-badged Fusie Cop Cars?

Welcome to For B Bodies Only Mopar Forum
"The Chrysler B platform was the basis for rear-wheel drive Chrysler cars from 1962 through 1979. All of the B-body cars in a given model year for either make were built upon the same chassis."

The Diplomat had a Medallion series (H) from 1982 through 1984. It was not sold in Canada and there was no Gran Fury (US) or Caravelle (CDN) equivalent.

For 1984 the Newport series (H) appeared, and was listed in Branham Automobile Reference Book for the U.S. market, although no prices were listed. Chrysler had it as an export model.

The Diplomat SE appeared for 1985 as series P. No more Medallion (H). The Diplomat SE was not sold in Canada and there was no Plymouth equivalent.

Last year for the M body was 1989, with 1988 and 1989 models built at Kenosha, Wisconsin.

Two other models sold in Canada - Plymouth Caravelle - K body, L car line - 2dr coupe (based on Dodge 400/600 coupe - no Caravelle convertible) - 1983-1986.
Caravelle - E body, J car line - 4dr sedan (based on Dodge 600 sedan) - 1983-1988. Sold in US 1985-1988.

A 1974-77 Newport cop car might be what it takes to force me get some greens out from under my mattress.
I wonder if the Formal pursuit VINs were CE as well...I'll have to do some research. Not a lot on Chrysler pursuits.

It seems WV was the largest department to use Chryslers and we have a pic of a WVSP Chrysler Newport. Maybe a WV member knows a retired trooper?

Somebody on Facebook posted some pics of a 1963 Chrysler Newport Police Package. Looks to be Missouri Highway Patrol. Certified Speedo, battery heat shield, definitely a Package Car.

I have production reports for US market Mopars from 1965 to 1969 and shipment reports for US market Mopars from 1970 to 1973. No mention anywhere of a taxi or police series for Chrysler. They list them for C body Plymouths and Dodges, starting in 1970, but not Chryslers.

Chrysler Corp did list a Taxi Package (A37) and Police Package (A38). Chrysler Canada used the Taxi Package prior to the 1972 on the B bodies and 1975 on the C body. The Police Package was used on B and C body models prior to 1975.

The K and T series were dropped at the end of 1978. Starting with the 1979 models the A37 Taxi and A38 Police Taxi packages were used again.

I'll finally try to get some pictures on here of the build sheet of the 73 Newport I had with the U code 440. Bear with me, I'm not very good at this.

Missouri was famous for not using "normal cars". I'd say a 73 Newport in B1 with a U-Code 440 would fit that bill.
