Cool. I need one for my 66 300

Some people have more money then sense. Have you priced or shopped around like NAPA, or any other parts store to save some coin? Maybe even E-bay? Let me know if you save a buck or 5 or 10. Good Luck

The one specifically I need is not to be found anywhere. There was a whole thread on this last year.

So what's the number on the can that you need? What your looking for is out there and for a lot less money then what Tony is asking. Give me a number and I bet I'll find you one for about $20. Tell me, what makes yours so special and specific?

Here is the thread. It is not the canister but the arm. I believe the one I need is the one for 45 dollars.

Tuning up my Fury III

Been so long since I took a dist. apart, I forget? I thought the arm went under the plate, like I said, I don't remember. Normally the # on the arm is what your looking for, as doubling that gives you the amount of degrees in the can. As far as I know, Mopar never had a adjustable can from the factory. Are you sure what you had is/was original? I know some aft-market cans are adjustable. Post #12 in your link, you also need a screw to hold it in place.

There are no threads to screw into to hold it in place. {I am assuming you mean the end of the arm with a retaining screw to hold it on the distributor plate.} This applies to 3 of the correct type I have had. I would guess the adjustable cans came later so one type of can can accomodate a wider range of applications with different arms. It would be cool to know what the correct vacuum spec is for the cannister of different engines. That way you knew where it should be set for your application.

I also might avail myself of Tony's at some point, to equip the rebuilt single point I snagged about 18 mos ago which had a defective advance from Day 1. The number on mine is 9L, and I despaired of finding one on eBay or elsewhere after a years searching for less than what a nice shiny new Cardone 84-3817 ran me. THAT I'm happy with, new advance, cam, breaker plate, bushings and the rest for $70. Hard to justify spending too much on a vacuum advance when one can replace the whole bloody distributor for less with good results!

Still, in case I want to replace the pot on an otherwise great rebuild, I might look this deal from Tony up. Thx for posting us.

It screws to the dist. housing from one of the arms on the can. All it does is hold it in place. Look on the side of the dist. where the arm is placed through the dist.

Uh huh. On THIS, I suspect the slop-shops do some crap work. Was your Cardone a rebuild or one of the new builds? For the present, the NEW unit, the 84-3817 is doing WONDERFULLY, but I wonder how long this will last.....

I bought it last year. The vacuum canister looked new. It was most likely blasted and was an old one. I called them and asked if I had a warranty and they said yes...send it back. I said I just needed the cannisters and they do not have them,,cannot get them and cannot order them. The dizzy is fine so my search for a can started

Your tale resembles mine so closely it makes me weep. Go buy yourself one of the NEW distributors, the 84-3817. You can get one for $71 plus shipping from CarId. I bought my reman; 30-3817 from VatoZone for $38, so I've little room to complain, but the NEW one totally outshines it! Do yourself a favor. Read my thread on this for more.
