Changing the subject- cheap toolset at Harbor Freight

See I bought this set with the coupon.

It was. About $30. But now I wish I bought the other one.

That looks pretty decent for 30 bucks if it holds up a few times.

It’s just a set to keep in the trunk for “emergencies”. Like when I am too impatient to wait for AAA to show up.

Actually, the vise grips and screwdrivers are what pushed me to spend the $.

I am always trying to find a stubby screwdriver when I need one and Usually can’t remember where I’ve put them!

And we all can use another hammer right? It’s the “universal tool”.

I have a lot of Craftsman along with Mac, Matco and some Snapon. Snapon has gotten overpriced IMHO, I have been using Matco for things lately, but he stops every week at work and is never a high pressure sales man.

got most of my tools out of the trunks of junk cars. swap meets. flea markets. see used snap-on tools on CL for pennies on the dollar. not giving snap-on $450 for a torque wrench or $300 for an air ratchet that they won't sell me repair parts for.

A claw hammer does not belong in a mechanics toolbox! (adjustable wrenches too)

Surprised they didn't include a pair of Channellocks or a 4 way screwdriver.

Hammer is the tool that gets it done when all else fails.

Channellocks are always a good thing to have on hand...the next HF toolset higher up in price includes them.

Well I went out and bought the Harbor Freight set today 200 somethin pieces. 94.99. The case fits well in my truck and I am surprised how good they seem. Time will tell,but at least I have something with me when driving. Wished it had a set of vicegrips though.

I have a pair that looks just about like that. But they haven’t failed on me.

Fortunately the latch for the stand was still holding the tooth above the break. I only discovered it when a socket rolled under the stand and I discovered the "extra" item!

I agree,all my main tools are old Craftsman,,this is for my truck to carry around. If they get stolen ,,I don't care.
There used to be places to get used tools in my area,,they seem to be gone now.
