Insulting Members, Not Cool!

In my years, I always found it's easiest to just call the people out in question and get it out in the open. Discuss it, shake hands and either resolve it or agree to disagree... Whatever. We're adults and I hope to think we are all friends.

I won't comment here behind their backs.

I believe that it concerns these two guys. If I'm wrong, please correct me...

Uh-oh!
My name showing up.
You guys are missreading it.
It is not at Steve it is by Steve.
I liked the sarcasm in it and put it in my signature, crediting Steve as author.
If he lifted it from someone else I can fix that, if he would like me to remove it I will.
No ill will toward anyone. Except for that douchebag up in central PA and some of the derby dummies.
If I have a problem with you I'll let you know, directly.

And that is exactly why I brought up your name (and Steve's). If the perception is that there was ill will towards Steve or Steve was upset, then it needs to get out in the open and then clear it up.

That is the way people should work things out.

Is Steve upset?
@saforwardlook
Again not my intention.

I have been busy all day and didn't see this until now. I am not sure whether Chris' comments are relative to me but I can understand how what he saw could have been interpreted as such. No problem. (also Big John, thanks for your suggestion).

In my case at least, I am not upset about anything personally and 70bigblockdodge (Dave) has not said anything regarding me that has bothered me (I see his tag line now, as I had not noticed it before honestly). I think his tag line was just a quote from me (it was mine, not lifted from anyone) from a recent post that he thought was appropriate for the discussion at hand, and maybe Chris didn't have the whole context unless he read every post in the America thread perhaps.

I appreciate Chris thinking of me in any case, as I consider him and his wife Terry to be really good friends of mine and I do respect them immensely. They have visited my asylum and I always look forward to seeing them when they attend a Fall or Spring Fling out here. Super people, really! So thank you for your concern in this case.

And I think I have a grip on Dave's sense of humor pretty well after a few years now and respect his comments a great deal as well, even though at times we do disagree. But he is exceptionally smart in my assessment, and I believe he respects me as well. So no hard feelings from the tag line or any other comments in my case.

Also, after I worked for Chrysler for a little more than a decade, my last job of almost 32 years had me in charge of some major programs that I had to develop along with a 40 member staff and I had to defend our decisions before a 14 member board of supervisors, and had to be ready for any questions they threw at me. So I do try to think through anything I say or write before I post it, and I have also been dragged into court for lawsuits and depositions many times over the years too. So I am pretty used to attacks by those who disagree with me, and it takes a lot for these to bother me too. I never intend to insult anyone but I am also not afraid to state my opinion either and respectfully disagree with those who react strongly against my opinion, but maybe sometimes I fail in terms of the respect aspect - not intended to insult.

I personally believe political discussions have to be respectful in order for a Board to not be torn apart. Usually it works pretty well on this site. Even when a couple guys I can think of get close to that line, I just believe they are strong in their beliefs due to their life experiences and leave it at that. I also know that I am in the minority on this site in many of my beliefs, but I also come from a very different background seemingly than most guys that love old Mopars like I do. I just try to provide a different prespective and hope that it helps others see things from another perspective. I know that a lot the things that many say on this site are somewhat new to my experince and I like broadening my perspective too.

So I believe we are all good. Thank you.
Steve

Not sure what the reference is at the start of this thread but I agree that personal attacks should not be tolerated and that is something for the moderators sort out. Keep in mind it is virtually impossible to discuss contentious issues without upsetting someone not because of a personal attack but because you don't share their POV on a topic. It is the price you pay for engaging in free speech. In my experience someone who initiates a personal attack typically has gotten in over their head discussing something they feel strongly about but haven't done their homework. The owners/moderators of this board are intelligent people who if they thought for a minute that discussion of non-automotive topics was bad for business would simply prohibit it. In their wisdom they have segregated non-automotive comment to a section described as "Forum for general discussion, news and other non automotive stuff." To those who only want to talk cars or with delicate sensibilities just don't go there. In all likelihood the owners see us growing and figure if it ain't broke don't fix it.

Too hard to use the laptop while driving. The cab on my Pete is too small for a laptop, and my lunchbox.

Time to brown bag it, dude...

Nobody should be using a phone on FCBO.

My computer doesn’t take pictures and it is such a pain to transfer pictures during a project.
I do take my computer out to the garage sometimes though and hook it up to my tv to scroll through my disassembly pictures as I am putting stuff together.
I guess I am picking up habits from my kids.

Well said! Sometimes I use the thread titles as warning labels when deciding what to read. I think I've only a couple of times used the Report feature; the Back and "Ignore Member" buttons are more effective.
I just got a smart phone recently so now I can get FCBO anywhere and like HWYCRZR said I also use it for pic's. I am behind as far a tech goes. I need my 12yr old nephew to school me:D
FCBO is one of the biggest uses I have for my recently acquired iPhone - and that includes phone calls.
