Just a heads up, and a parking place for future trip pics... Work is sending me to Avondale for the week of the 22nd. I may have a free day Monday the 22nd for a junkyard tour and I should have some evenings free.

I'd like to connect with some members while I'm out there, if possible. Sorry, my weekends are already spoken for by family.

Jeff, Avondale is 10 minutes from me. I'd love to get together with you. When are you getting in? I'm asking because on Friday the 18th we're going to Barrett Jackson. I'm sure your schedule is pretty full but figured I'd ask.

That's all outstanding. My brother is working on tickets for Friday through a work contact. He manages a hotel in Scottsdale. I'm giving him free reign with the weekend and have reserved junkyard time for Monday the 22nd 21st before I find my hotel in Avondale (not commuting from Chandler)... I will be without adult supervision in the evenings, but will return to Chandler Friday night.

Then I'm giving my father a weekend before flying home... I'll probably rent a car if I go to Benson, but that leg is still up in the air. Regardless, I got a nice, cheap trip in a year I didn't expect to go that far west.

Chris, I will PM you my information... be a few days once I figure out what hotel I'll be at. Might get to see you twice.

Sounds like a nice trip
I'm certain it will be for many reasons, but the bonus that work is picking up much of the tab is huge for me... I didn't have it in my budget to want to pay for it and I didn't have much paid time off to use for it... I found a win-win with my company, who insists on paying for travel days, avoiding overtime when possible, but wanted me there for 4 full days.

That’s very generous of them and unusual to see these days.

I wish you were headed there in Feb or March, those are the toughest months for me to spend in MI. It would be great to meet again in a place where I actually know my way around. We could definitely kill some time checking out Phoenix yards.

Unfortunately I have a hard commitment for something here on Jan 23rd. Here is a pic to get you excited...

As a side note don’t get your hopes up on the yards around here. Pretty picked over. Some of the locals on the west side have secret stashes. Chris would know.

I would have a ball digging through a yard with you... When I took a coworker, it would only slow me down. The downside of my new "desk" job, which is what they are sending me out to train for, is no more company funded walks through the pick and pays.

Thank you, I really don't need to buy anything to enjoy a day picking through a vintage yard. I can even enjoy myself digging through later models.

Those old cars with so little rust are a reason to write bad checks for an eastern boy... I'd have to have a yard full if I lived out that way. Better than a car show, you can touch and dig around a little... pretty cool to see stuff you only ever saw made from Bondo growing up.

I don't mean to diminish the very nice thing they did, allowing me to manipulate their trip into my vacation, but they do business in California. CA is tougher on punched breaks than PA was when I had kids pumping gas for me.

As I understand it, we were "gifted" with our digital time clock system to appease the Cali labor folks... Those poor fellas have to clock watch their breaks to assure they don't punch back on too soon.:realcrazy:
