O gauge Trains

I will play with trains as soon as my c body projects are completed, it might be a while.

Got spoiled with some train goodies for xmas. Phase 2 has started out for the layout. New area is planned to be the “city” in time.

The new grass does not match the old at all lol. Ill have to hide it pretty good! Moved some stuff around, and still finishing the track layout. Waiting on some more track to show up!

I found a bunch of train stuff this yr when going thru some of my dads things, track, cars and accessories. Had a couple estate sales this fall and had a heck of a time selling it. Got prob half of it left, not many people wanting this kind of stuff anymore. Most of the people that even looked at them were over 75 yrs old. Kids nowadays just want their damn smart phone to play with. In an era long gone, you were somebody if you had a train set

I wish you stupid people would learn how to quote a someone's message and posting your reply to it, Instead of just posting a quote with your content mixed in or what no content!

And now Joey's fuckin quote buttons DON"T WORK again! WTF Joey?

Just a few pics of my HO scale layout. Plasticville buildings are from when I was a kid. My uncle Mike hand made some of the buildings. This was something my dad & I did together. My son & I now carry on the tradition.

Where did you get all the H.O. scale Chrysler products?

I collected them over the years. Mostly Johnny Lightning and Auto World. My town looks like Carlisle the second weekend of July. It is actually any old steel town that was thriving many years ago here in SW Pennsylvania.

And... I see you even have an accurate depiction of the FNG getting ready to peel the billboard off that e body pulling into the bay...

Well Stubby I was attempting to reply to a post and I hit the reply icon and then posted my "content". I don't know why it quoted Monaco75's posting and then mixed in my post with it.
Perhaps you could go into a hysterical screaming rage with Joey on why it did this. He will probably just ignore you, most people do.
Your insanity works well for you, keep up the good work

I spoiled myself with this last week. Just showed up today. Unfortunately things arnt working out so great....

She’s a lionel Union Pacific challenger. Was offered in 2004. Has TMCC, Odyssey system, synchronized dynochuff smoke, and railsounds.

She showed up today but seems to have some problems. Engine looks amazing. Does seem to have little to no run time as marketed.

However railsounds is not working, nor is the couplers or reverse light. I spent too much for this stuff not to work. Waiting to hear back from the guy. Engine will move forward and back, and smoke and Odyssey are working but that’s it.

You guys have any thoughts on this as to what could be the problem? @Samplingman ??

I wanna keep it, and try to get some money back for repairs.... but will just send it back if needed.

Internal battery may need to be charged. I know if I leave my track power on without starting or running the engine it will charge the battery. Usually over night. Mine is an MTH but it may be worth a try.
Either way the guy that sold it should've charged, or installed a new battery. The guy I bought mine completely went through mine which were new, but old stock.
I know how expensive these can be, I hope he makes good on it for you.

Sorry to hear the trouble your having. I run conventional, so am unfamiliar with the Odyssey setup. I’d check the sound connection with the tender where the speaker is. Also, could be a loose board connection, it is 14 years old after all. I don’t think there is a battery like in MTH engines, those are notorious for running down and causing the engine to shut down and not run at all. Theses are mini computers, there might be others ways to control the sound through the transformer or the hand held controller. Are you using a Lionel transfomrmer or the MTH Z unit? I know there are differences in sine wave between the two, and are not compatible. Do you have the manual? It is probably online. Sorry I can’t be much help here.

Great looking layout, BTW, I wish I could get to a point with the basement to be able to build something more permenant than the Christmas setup.

Thanks guys,

This one does have a slot for a 9 volt, however it is there mainly for use in conventional mode. It is not needed in TMCC mode. I did throw one in it for shits and giggles, but made not difference...

While I had the tender body off, I peeked through everything I could. I don’t see any pinched wires, or burnt up spots on the board. The engine has a wireless tether between it, and the tender. The sights for the tether seem clean, and clear. I did play with a couple connections, but not all of them. They all appear tight. I didn’t want to get to ahead of myself in it. Waiting to hear back from the guy. Although I’m starting to feel as if I’m not going to. No response yet.

I’m using the standard TMCC unit to power it. I did have it, and the C&NW running together for a min around the layout. Was hoping it just needed some run time to get working again, but no...

I’ll have to try the guys at the support. I have been researching some forums. I do believe I have it down to something wrong in the tender.

For the IR on the wireless tether, they say the poor mans way to test the engine is hold your camera phone up to the engine side. Can’t see the light with the naked eye, but can see a purplish light through the camera. I am getting the purple light on mine, so I’m assuming the engine is good.

Crappy thing here in FL is the lack of hobby shops, let alone train related hobby shops. Only one certified Lionel repair/dealer in the state. They are 3 hours away in Tampa...

Thank you!
