76 ROYAL MONACO BROUGHAM IN KB8 ...NOT MINE...YET

What are you waiting for?

It’s Sunday morning shouldn’t you be in Church??

Trying to figure out some logistics...if only I knew someone who had a covered car trailer and lots of time on their hands....

The car appears to be a factory Cdn spec, non LB car (Original style "trumpet" end on the snorkel without the hose and the non-LB 400 call out on the lid). Appears to have factory single exhaust. Low on PS fluid as evidenced by the whining.

Is it a 9.25 or a 8.25 underneath?

The car has been painted, as evidenced by the pinstripes vanishing at the doors and there is no flat black at the bottoms of the rockers. Top looks good.

The huge annoyance is the addition of a Chrysler 5th Avenue interior emblem on the horn pad (off centre to boot!). The Dodge and Plymouth tilt tele horn pads had no emblems on them. The NYB hood ornament bugs me too.

Drivers seat worn...would be a real PIA to get the proper material and bring that back properly.

Overall: Looks like a solid car fairly priced in the $2500 range.

I would bet it's an 8.25 rear.

All of the Formals that I've seen had a 9.25 with 440's and 8.25 axle with any smaller engine.

Both of my Formals have 400 4bbl's and both have 8.25 axles.

Hope it works out for you Graham, that's a good looking car! I tried looking up Band city to see where it was originally purchased but couldn't dig anything up due to Band city auto established in 2010 in Moosejaw. I should have looked up Moosejaw monikers, perhaps band city is one of them. Fairly dry down there, underside could be nice. Looks like the drivers door, fender, hood and front clip have been repainted and in true Canadian tradition, rockers were "rockerguarded" and painted to match. Probably a Moosejaw car thinking about it, if it was from Regina or Saskatoon surely it would have aluminum running boards.

Yup its missing the running boards for sure lol. Its one of those cars that just speaks to me for some reason. I’d prefer a nice 78 NYB two tone if I am getting into the Formal world but I can’t seem to find one in my budget...:)

From the seller:

AC is converted and cold. Blower motor doesn't shut off, only goes to low. From what I have read, likely a small vacuum leak. I haven't looked at it. Needs check spring for drivers door. Needs rear leaf springs as it has helper springs and coils on rear shocks. Drivers window sometimes needs help.

As an owner of a '76, I have to say I've never seen a '78 two-tone myself.

Well the deal is done now what lol....

Got it for standard Formal price and he threw in a set of very nice road wheels with rubber. Now i just need to figure out shipping from Regina to Calgary. Car was originally from BC but passed out of Province in Saskatchewan ok. The current owner spent a lot of time cutting and buffing the single stage paint this past summer but did tell me the d/s rear quarter has had a repair by the original owner and was painted with bc/cc so we will see. Hood and roof will need more work.

Stay tuned friends :)
