Who is the best source for a 67 Wagon.
Finally got the 440 tuned and dialed in and took her out for a 6 or 7 mile rip.
While an absolute blast to drive, she is all over the road. Every suspension part on the vehicle is stock except the rear shocks. I have a new pair of KYB shocks for the front.

I went with PST for the entire front end (KYB Shocks front and back) and Springs and Things for the leafs/rear hardware.

I don't have any of this in yet but that's what I got.

I used springsnthings components as well, great to work with, and GREAT springs; the rebuild makes a huge difference in the car's handling, really goes from barge to speedboat............(there I go with those nautical terms on C bodies again)........

I'm starting my steering refresh at the sloppy source: Step One is a new Firm Feel box to eliminate the 120 degrees of wheel turn just to get directional changes. It was just delivered the other day, and takes about two months for FF to build you (me) one. Once that's in, then I can determine what else is loosey-goosey, if anything.

I'm going to be rebuilding my front end as well..starting with all new bushings and ball joints. I'm curious to know if its worth the investment in that steering box.

I have used PST three times, but I do not like that they don't provide the inner tie-rods or new sleeves in their kits. All three times I had to buy them separately.

Just Suspension used to offer complete kits, with everything, but I don't think they do so any more. However, I do believe they still sell everything you need.

PST | Front End Parts | Front End Kits | Suspension Rebuild Kits

Just Suspension – The best suspension advice, hard to find suspension catalogs, and performance parts anywhere!

Well, mine is leaking at the worm shaft seal (and maybe a little at the pitman, too) and has massive slop and zero "feel", so instead of buying a questionable offshore remanufactured unit from O'ReillyZoneParts, I went with the spendy-but-foolproof option of an upgraded, hand-assembled, professionally and correctly adjusted box from FF with no Sino parts. AND it comes unpainted (bead blasted) so a little matte clear paint makes it look marvelous vs. all the boxes that were sprayed black over the years. [The pot coupler is supposed to be natural metal too, and all I see are rattle-black stuff down there.]

My damages were:
Box---379
Correct, difficult to find "large sector" onshore pitman arm---145
High press hose and return hose---65
Shipping (41 lbs)---55

Core charge is 250, but I would think most of us don't want to keep the old box laying around....leaking....so you spend another 50+ sending it back.

ABSOLUTELY! If you can AFFORD a new steering gear box along w the rest of the front suspension hardware, then DO IT THEN!

I rebuilt my front suspension this time last year with GREAT results, BUT, I held off on the steering gear until it was pouring fluid this past Turkey Day. Consequently, all that power steering fluid attacked some rubber, including the left LCA bushing :( so....

Its BEST to replace every moving part or system at once if/when you can afford to do so.

I'll have to replace BOTH LCA bushings probably by this Summer, or risk damage to other parts of the front suspension. Thank the Lord Mathilda is still driving straight and true now, but I SAW the damage to that driver side LCA bushing, as well as my radiator hoses.

So spend the extra few C notes NOW.

Happy MoParing

Good on you w the FF box. I'm pleasantly surprised w the BBB box I copped for $120, but expect I'll want a FF in a few short years. I can't complain though, and don't.

I went with P-S-T for my Polara and got their kit to install in my '67 Dart. I may have reused the sleeves, but unless they are damaged, they don't need replacing. I probably just wiped the grime off and reinstalled. I plan on getting another kit for the Polara 500 as well as rear springs. And I'm eyeballing rear sway bars for the Polaras. I know the front end is all old parts, and will start with that before I touch the steering box(es).

P-S-T also gives us 10% off for being FCBO members.

IMHO, there's a lot written here about steering boxes when the cause of "all over the road" hasn't been determined.

First, these cars don't drive like new cars. Road feel in any new car or truck is going to be far superior to an old C-body with the tightest suspension/steering and is the reference that old cars are sometimes judged by. Along with that, from my experience, the suspension components can get pretty bad before it's really noticeable. Front end alignment, on the other hand, can make a tight car drive like crap.

Next, before you load up the parts cannon and spend your hard earned dollars on stuff you may not need, it makes sense to take a look at the suspension and steering components and figure out what exactly is worn. Personally, in all the miles I've driven in old Mopars, I've never had to change a steering box.

That's not saying it's a bad idea to replace wearable suspension components at this time... In fact, I would do the same thing. When I take the front end apart, I just want to do it once so I replace everything and get it over with. Personally, I use Moog components as I believe that the sources for most "kits" can be a little questionable. They all come from Mexico or China, but at least I understand that Moog is the manufacturer and PST (or the like) is a distributor that buys in bulk and repackages.

Right now, I'm piecing the replacement parts for my '65 Barracuda. I'm using Moog stuff and sourcing from Rock Auto and Amazon. I'll look up the part numbers on Rock Auto, then look at prices with my Amazon Prime and compare. Cheaper price, usually Amazon, wins. Caught a price drop in my Amazon watch list just last night and saved $50 on the lower ball joints.

And I'm eyeballing rear sway bars for the Polaras.
Be wary of that. I bought one for my '70 Newport; it would not clear the dual exhaust or my shocks. Attempted to put it on my buddy's 300-Hurst; same story.

Yeah, we went through this, I know there is a thread about the one that fits, Firm Feel maybe? I'll find the thread before I buy anything. I know it cleared everything with plenty of room to spare.

Hello Mark,
That makes your life very convenient ---- your shipping charge, will, of course, be...... F R E E !!!!!!!!!!!
I will be away -- at the Ag Hall show in Allentown, Pa. -- from Wednesday, January 16th -- through Sunday, January 20th.....
A great indoor show at a great heated 59,000 foot facility (run by Carlisle Events -- called the "Automania" -- you can investigate),
but NOT a good show for you to go to -- I am the only MOPAR guy at the show (but that is because I do GM, Ford, Rambler, Studebaker, etc., etc.)
Call me, preliminarily these next five (5) days --- or, of course, after I get back.......
Thanxxxxxx, yours, Craig...........
My grandfather's place was "Studnick Auto Parts 867 West Merrick Road
in Valley Stream!!!! Were you ever there?? I may have served you when I was
a little whippersnapper!!!!"
