Removing vinyl appliqué from rear bumper 72 Fury

I don’t know if it came painted from the factory, but certainly has black paint on it now. There is no real texture to the finish on the vinyl, it is pretty smooth. Maybe try some thinners first to see if I can get paint off that way.

Nicely done! That's a rare and interesting piece that deserves preservation.

Now, (respectfully) go and get that bumper properly rechromed, not some powdercoat/paint process. You'll be so much happier for so much longer if you do it right.
Problem I have is finding someone local to rechrome. One emailed me today, with a $1200 estimate and 6 to 7 months wait time..... others I have contacted have not even bothered to respond.

Hmmm... I see you're in Florida. Maybe some of our members can chime in with suggestions. There's a place in NY state that is popular, but shipping might be a challenge. Fastenal does pallet shipping that's quite affordable.

Thats a ridiculous price. Even here in California where the environmental laws are really tough on hexavalent chromium in the environment, I can get a rear Chrysler 300 bumper redone with show chrome plating for about $400 including the preparation fee. In my case I have had bumpers rechomed for the cars going to Europe when they request it as part of the sale since overseas it is really a tough issue for them. The prep guy I use is pretty good for that type of work, but not the absolute best, which is what they are usually satisfied with. When I want better prep, then I will pay about $250 more.

http://www.tricityplating.com/ The price list on their site isn't available at the moment, but their prices seem decent and quality has been reported to be very good. They have bumper cores to swap too.

That would probably be Sandy's Bumper Mart, Inc. Chroming and plating specialists right here in Syracuse. Not the fastest, but good quality.
