Im setting this page up to drop all my picks on my progress of restoring the engine, engine bay and stub frame on my 1967 Chrysler Newport Custom. These pics are all in progress and for notes...not necessarily for display. This is from the start...pulling the engine.

Cleaning and replacing some items in the engine. I replaced all the gaskets, oil pan, fuel pump, valve seals, timing chain and gears and repainted it HOK purple candy...the car will be the same color.

I didn't hear you say anything about replacing the rear main seal while you have it out.

rear main seal would mean breaking into the bottom end of the engine. decided against it for the moment. its not leaking, but I will be doing the front and rear trans seals. The motor had good compression and no slop in the bearings, so I decided to leave it for now until it needs a rebuild...then i will worry about it.

Be sure to tie down the shims on either side of the stub mounts so they get back into the car in the same spot. That will save you much grief. With that amount of crap in the oil pan, it would also be a good idea to plasti-gauge the mains and rods.

I never intended to take the bottom end apart. It ran good and had good compression. The inside was actually clean. The sludge was under a hard cap. Eventually it will be rebuilt but not for quite awhile. I will also make sure the shims go back in the right spot. I took pictures of all the body shims as I took it apart.

Ok....so in taking my stub frame out I found rust through my front floor boards....junk yard! $40ea only surface rust...no holes or thinning.
