What Do You Like/Or Dislike About Carlisle?

So, back on topic.
This thing called Carlisle. I have heard of this place. I'm told it's a place of legends, and legendary finds. I've been to Western Pa....Punxy, Dubois, etc.
And it can be humid there, but I live in Oklahoma. If that's not humid enough, let me take you to "N'awlins" in July.
I've also been to a swap meet in Madison Wisconsin called "Little Carlisle" You could probably spend a weekend there and still not see it all. And it's the first cold weekend in October. And I mean cold. I hate cold.
Does anyone have photos of this Carlisle show/meet they would share? Please post them up.
Thank you.

Use the search feature... enter Carlisle and search titles only... too many pictures to be reposted every time someone can't find them, @Joeychgo would have a cow.

My CCW is honored in PA, but what is the policy as far as Carlisle entry?
I don't recall anyone getting the wand, but I think its silly.

You cant sell firearms in the swap, but I didn't see it specifically addressed in the website. There might be a sign at the gate... but who ever follows directions anyhow?

I'd bet there are plenty of others, too. I'll be enjoying a nice cold adult beverage. I might even get too imbibed and say or do something stupid... but if I do I won't go for the car keys or any other weapon, I hardly ever even have a pocket knife on me. I've been known to be kind of an azzole, but I'm not particularly predisposed to violence.

"why anyone would ever want someone with a strong moral compass carrying a firearm." If that's you, you stay clear headed, you're legally allowed and properly trained (safety), you're compass actually works and you don't feel just a little taller when you're packing... thanks, I guess. In a big crowded field, I hope you've taken into account there will be no safe direction to fire... because you'll be surrounded by innocent parties... men, women and children... and even the occasional pet.

I generally don't talk much about this. Maybe its because of the gun culture I grew up with. If I was inclined to carry a weapon, of any sort, for self defense or evil intent... nobody would ever know it was there, until too late. If I wanted a deterrent, I'd just carry a big stick (club or whatever). I'm sure there will be somebody else there with a gun, but now they'll be watching out for you... do you know who they are? Just like the old saying, watch out for the quiet ones.

@BLUPORT Just asking.... do all the state's you would be traveling through honor your CC permit? I'm not sure... you may want to check otherwise it's a federal offence to carry a handgun across state lines.

They do honor it, except Maryland, but that's not a problem.

Unfortunately we now have annual "Active Shooter" training seminars at work, church etc.
The training officer or agent often will say at some point in the course. "Oh, by the way. Don't ever post online your ownership of a weapon much less the type of weapon you own." They'd just as soon not be called to your house to fill out a theft report of said weapon.

Whenever they start that "active shooter" crap at work, I ask them why they need it when there is this on the door.

How could anyone defeat that level of security? :realcrazy:

We had to add a "man trap" vestibule to the front lobby back in '09.
Too many pissed-off ex-employees coming back for a little retribution.

What Do You Like?
1. The drive there, half way across PA.
2. Wandering aimlessly around, taking in the sights, the people, funnel cakes.
3. The drive back, half way across PA.

This.
Except from the other direction.
Turn left at Toledo, have fun, I'm on vacation! :steering:
